'No serious dispute' that Comey's seashell post could be read as a Trump threat, prosecutors say

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department is defending its prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey, saying “there is no serious dispute" that a social media post of seashells he made last year could be understood as a threat against President Donald Trump.

Prosecutors also called into question Comey's account that he had found the seashells in the numerical arrangement of “86 47” while walking on a beach in North Carolina and suggested that his May 2025 post on Instagram was a thinly veiled attempt to sell copies of a forthcoming novel about a social media personality whose words have inspired his fans to attack his foes.

Given the context of Comey's "shell art ," his defense is absolute garbage. He well knew, as a former FBI director and US attorney, that the term “to 86” someone generally meant to murder that person. He clearly encouraged that in the context of the two prior assassination attempts on President Trump.

“This one is a bit of a stretch, imo.”

Don’t care. Drag Comey through years of expensive criminal litigation. He had no problem doing it to others.

If we can’t put him in jail, (because the GOP doesn’t have any balls) then we bankrupt him through years of litigation and trials.

It’s presented as the slippery slope that leads the crazies on and gets them to do the crazy stuff that the button pushers don’t pay a price on. This is where splitting hairs come in. Was it a death threat? That’s a stretch. Does it encourage the 2-3 assassination attempts who only need permission? You tell me.

Some examples of this are in order.

It’s like Al Capone. They couldn’t get him on gangster stuff so they nailed him with tax crimes. Charge him with whatever. Maybe he has torn some tags off mattresses or taped a football game without the the express written permission from the NFL.Let him go through expensive litigation.

Comey should get life in prison for illegally SPYING ON PRESIDENT TRUMP, to include TREASON against the United States of America yet here we are discussing a photo of his wife’s sea shell art.

Doesn’t mean anything. He’s smarter than everyone of us. We just don’t understand what “86 47” means to Ivy league intellects.

It’s not like all these trolls and social media posts by thousands of like minded individuals means anything.... other than to identify them as the “smart” people.

Smart people are special. They’re better than us in all ways. They are one tribe. They are the best of all and are perfectly prepared to move into the future without us.

I wonder if they’ll need us in the future? Or will they just gradually eliminate us with poor education, debt, drugs, social media/porn, gambling, mind numbing regulations making anything in public or private potentially “illegal”, blocking career paths if not “right thinking”,vaccinating/genetic engineering the stupid people into early graves and forcing them to get the vaccinations/genetic engineering with inability to get into the armed forces, educational programs, corporate or public service?

I think nothing will happen to any of the smart people. They can lie under oath, evade taxes, falsify documents, obtain weapons, launder money, have sex with underage boys and girls, inside trade to become multimillionaires and make decisions that kill thousands and thousands of dumb people.... and not one thing will happen to them other than to transfer money to lawyers and the system.

Be a fish in an ocean of fish.

To 86 someone means to throw them out of a bar or nightclub. No?

What a joke

recent head of America’s KGB effectively says “Kill the 47th President” and its not a threat.

Pathetic.

Comey did more than threaten the life of President Trump. Comey has done much that can be described as giving aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States.

'there is no serious dispute' that a social media post of seashells he made last year could be understood as a threat against President Donald Trump.'

Finally some common sense in the DOJ - after years of idiocy during the Biden admin.

Hope Comey is bankrupted via litigation, Comey built his career on abusive prosecutions and lawless behavior, i.e. "Russiagate."

Make him go through the process. The stress should take years off his miserable life.

And they also got to read his phone and get other info as they had a subpoena for the device used to post the image.

So who knows what else they found on there.

Don’t care. Drag Comey through years of expensive criminal litigation.

What you're describing is the definition of weaponized prosecution.

“ What you’re describing is the definition of weaponized prosecution.”

But these are real crimes.
They’re not made up.
You don’t think people should be
charged for crimes they commit.

It is just the beginning of his end. The Florida Grand Jury will ultimately take James Comey down. The seashell charge is clearly a burning arrow shot across the bow of the sinking ship James Comey.

Zackly. Tie him up, cost him money, humiliate him, expose him as a biased POS. Even if the suit is dismissed or lost, give hm a small part of what he gave others
