The Quiet Manufacturing Boom
Daily Signal ^ | August 11, 2026 | Steve Cortes

Posted on 08/17/2026 7:21:30 PM PDT by T Ruth

Beneath the cacophony of media noise, an important untold story emerges: A manufacturing boom is unfolding across America right now, and especially so in the geographic center of the country.

This developing boom represents an epochal shift because investments in factories and tangible production involve the stickiest kind of capital expenditures. The commitment to production involves a macro “bet” on a yearslong cycle, not a near-term wager on the latest fad or concerns about the price of gasoline next week.

As such, this mostly hidden story deserves to be studied and amplified, both for the economic benefits and also for the possible political windfall for candidates on the populist right.

But before considering the import of this shift, it’s important to look at the numbers, the verifiable on-the-ground data sets that prove this new reality. The most-watched gauge of productive activity, the ISM Manufacturing Index, just surged to a fresh four-year high. Specifically, that ISM reading stands at 55 now, well above the 50 mark, which signals expansion. It has been rising for seven months.

In addition, manufacturing employment is rising, similarly marking a new four-year record high. These jobs are high-paying, family-sustaining roles that make our whole society stronger, not part-time “hustles” or gig economy transitions.

Construction jobs related directly to factories and trade are soaring under President Donald Trump ... So far in the third quarter of 2026, America has added 93,000 such construction positions and counting. Amazing progress!

***

Turning to electoral politics, the legacy media sadly has no interest in covering this huge story. Thus, it is incumbent on our movement and our candidates to broadcast the good news of a very real trend that points to far more Main Street prosperity ahead.

Article:

“In fact, overseas capital now rushes to build and invest in the U.S. Last year, in 2025, international capital spent $232 billion in the U.S., a whopping 50% increase over the 2024 levels under Biden.”

Invest in the US?

Tariffs work, it’s just going to be years before the effects are seen in regards to manufacturing

I just had a jackass on another thread say that those of us make him “sad” that “Trump is just sitting around eating McDonalds”.

Not kidding. That we have many people on this forum who have such a brainless outlook on what Trump is doing.

This article highlights what it is that he is trying do do, in spite of obstructionists on the Left and Useful Idiots in our own party, some of whom are on this very forum like the one I mentioned.

Most of these jobs created don’t pay minimum wage, nor have crappy benefits either. These are real jobs.

The affluent “middle class” was a creation of the blue collar manufacturing job.

For years, the majority of jobs that were being created were in the “service sector.”

I’ve been skeptical of Trump’s Iran war campaign, but I’m hopeful we get a good outcome moving forward.

As far as manufacturing goes. I’m a manufacturer and Trump has been fantastic in his efforts to help rebuild our manufacturing capacity.

It is happening incrementally and much of the real gains won’t be evident for awhile, but he’s by far the best President in my lifetime on this vital issue.

People have valid disagreements about Iran. I can live with that except in the case of the more strident and repetitive people on this forum.

But Trump’s actions in trying to re-shore manufacturing are gargantuan, IMO. I have never seen a President in my life, including Reagan, who took the horns of an issue more directly than Trump did in the case of trying to rejuvenate our industrial base.

He may not always be right or gentle about things, but by gosh, he doesn’t just let things lie there like every President since Kennedy when I was first aware of politics.

Sad there is absolutely no oversight on these TDS DU posters. I am most offended by those that spread propaganda regarding our military readyness while there are Men and Women serving in combat. Treasonous behavior.

Continuing your thoughts...

There are those who profess to be conservative on this forum who seem they will be genuinely upset and disappointed if the Democrats don’t win the House & Senate in November.

In the face of good news and improving conditions, this seems unthinkable but there it is.

Yes, there is a manufacturing surge. I had hoped it would be bigger/faster. I’m worried now that the corporate media will be able to suppress this news until after the midterms.

Low wage jobs are disappearing at a rapid rate. A friend years ago predicted that McDonald’s would have one employee per shift to watch the machines and load the “product”
It is coming true
In the airport there is an automated dominos pizza stand
In Kroger there is a robot that is doing inventory
Kiosks for ordering food at fast food joints
Automated floor cleaners

Interesting times

I worked in manufacturing (Drafting and CAD Design) on and off for 40 years before coming to the inevitable conclusion that while I still enjoyed the work, I’d grown to hate the business for it’s local job market volatility and cancel culture taking the joy out of it.

No, they punish me for having no alternative. They do not encourage anything.

Treasonous behavior.

Oh, for crying out loud? You must have a strong desire to suppress any who disagree with you? That isn't healthy for this Nation.

I’ve learned over my life that gas prices are everything to 2/3 of the population. It’s sad, but I have seen so much irrational behavior over gas prices over decades.
