Trump endorses in crowded Florida Congressional District 19 race. Who is his pick?

Aug. 14, 2026

Key Points • President Donald Trump endorsed Catalina Lauf for Florida's 19th Congressional District. • Rival candidates in the Republican primary have emphasized their local roots in response. • Lauf and opponent Jim Schwartzel have clashed over the firing of a local meteorologist. • The winner of the Republican primary is widely expected to win the general election in the conservative district.

With the Republican primary election quickly approaching, President Donald Trump has officially entered the fray of the Florida 19th Congressional District race by backing candidate Catalina Lauf. Trump announced his support for Lauf on Truth Social Thursday, Aug. 13, writing, "It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Patriot, Catalina Lauf, who is running to represent the tremendous people of Florida’s 19th Congressional District! As a former Presidential Appointee at the U.S. Department of Commerce in my First Administration, Catalina has proven she has the Courage and Wisdom to deliver strong results for the incredible people of her State and Nation — She has truly been with us from the beginning!"

. . .

The primary election Tuesday, Aug. 18, will decide which Republican candidate advances to replace U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, who is running for governor. Florida’s 19th Congressional District includes most of Lee County and the coastal areas of Collier County. . .

Lauf is a 33-year-old co-founder of a multimillion-dollar children's health company and previously served as a special adviser at the U.S. Department of Commerce during the first Trump administration and ran unsuccessfully for Congress in Illinois' 14th District in 2020 and Illinois' 11th District in 2022.

I drafted my comments and went looking for an article to post under. Some of my comments are now superfluous based on the Trump endorsement. But I am going to leave them as is only to add that Catalina Lauf has only raised $1,674,013. This will show the absolute power of the President's endorsement.

Interesting race for Byron Donalds CD 19 seat this Tuesday. Dems don’t have a chance as shown in their lack of fundraising. Republicans include David "Madison" Cawthorn, who flamed out in North Carolina; Christopher Collins, a former congressman in New York State convicted of conspiracy, etc., then pardoned by Donald Trump; and James Oberweis, a former Illinois state Senator. Oberweis blew out the field in the money race at $5.4 million vs $3.4 million for Collins.

Ed Foreman is the last congressman elected from two different states (Texas 1963 to 1965 and New Mexico 1969 to 1971).

Incumbent - 119th Congress CD 19 Open Seat, Republican Member of Congress Byron Donalds (Running for Governor)

With so many Florida districts, reviewing The Green Pages, I saw several other interesting races, but it would take a book to digest them. One of the other interesting races is right next door in the 20th where the democrat winner is assured victory in November.

The Green Pages has it marked as ** Incumbents running against one another **, although one of the two Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has resigned, but has her hat in the ring to face Debbie Wasserman Schultz along with three other democrats. The money is just the opposite with the Republicans raising little money to the millions of Schultz.

Trump stay out of Fl elections like SC and any other left primaries left.

No one wanted your terrible advice such as OZ or Herschel Walker.

You have done massive damage with your GOD-AWFUL pick and KNOW IT ALL arrogance. Vivek is so bad the Dems will walk into the Ohio Gov office.

Trumps god awful Donalds pick will hand the FL Gov office to the Dems who picked very wisely.

So, Trump endorsed a carpetbagger who has twice lost elections in her home state. But she’s (very) pretty.

Bought and paid for Brooklyn carpetbagging trash bag. Big money from data center tech bros. Criminal past. Donor's little bitch. Israel first. Equivocates on 2A. Dumber than a box of s**t.

Trump's only qualifications for office is whoever kisses his fat ass the hardest. He's WRECKING us here in Florida.

Your just as nasty as Donald Trump.
I guess his Zombies share other traits.

I love the fact the truth Hurts.

Trumps election picks are a nightmare again for the GOP just like 2018 and 2020.

The denial here is funny.
