A magnitude 7.7 earthquake hit just north of the Flores region in the eastern part of Indonesia, the United States Geological Survey reported on Friday.
There was no immediate information available from authorities about possible damage from the quake.

It was about 20 years ago a huge quake around there caused the huge tsunami that killed a lot of people.

A tsunami warning was issued after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Indonesia’s Flores region on Saturday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The independent scientific organization initially classified the earthquake as magnitude 7.5, then downgraded it to 6.9, before reclassifying it as 7.5 and then upgrading it to 7.7.
Indonesia’s meteorology, climatology, and geophysics agency (BMKG) issued the tsunami warning, while also warning of possible aftershocks in the region.

That thing was a rockin, thinking the video might have been one of the big after shock as folks were huddled out on the street already.
Earth is going to kill us. It is eventually going to win.
I laugh at all of the environmental wackos decrying how man is harming the earth. LOL. The earth just shrugs us off as the flea larvae we are compared to its power.
It is only a matter of time before the earth and nature makes short work of mankind if not all terrestrial life. Only a matter of time.
Meanwhile, the suffering of those impacted is often heart wrenching. Terrible. I can’t imaging the feeling and I thank God daily that I have never been personally subject to tragedy. Here is praying that my good fortune continues to hold.
We can’t know what tests God has in store for us at any given point in time. All I can do is express my sincere gratitude for my continued good fortune in the meantime.

The Pacific plate is huge.
It’s had 3 huge quakes in the southern area just recently.
I have a feeling the northern Pacific plate area is going to have a huge one too along the US west coast.
Japan had a few before all this started.

We're waiting. Long forecasted, and overdue. We had a minor quake here in South San Francisco a day or two ago. I slept thru it but my wife said it was strong. Most likely on the Hayward fault line, which was supposed to rip 10 to 15 years ago. When it goes, goodbye UC Berkeley (right on the fault line).
Aside from that, it could be Seattle, Mt Shasta, or LA that will have a big quake. Shasta is one of a string of volcanoes along the US west coast, been having tremors lately. I go there often and hope I'm not there if it blows.
It was 2004 at Christmas. Banda Aceh. First tsunami ever really recorded. Very sad.
I tried to find the original video. I did not.
Except for a few areas, such as Aceh and Halmahera, and a few smaller places, most Indonesians are “in name only” muslims. They eat pork, drink, and leave the Christians alone. Their view of the Chinese is a little more severe, but, in general, Indonesia is the first “muslim reformation” country.
I forgot. Flores is mostly Roman Catholic.
