Trump says US ‘owns’ Strait of Hormuz, warns Iran of response ‘100 times harder’

President Donald Trump told Fox News on Friday that the U.S. is in firm control of the Strait of Hormuz, touting what he described as a “wall of steel” blockade and warning Iran against further attacks.

“We totally control, we own, in the true sense, we own the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump told Fox News’ Alexis McAdams ahead of remarks in Nassau County, New York. “We only allow boats to come in if we want them to come in.”

Trump said the blockade is costing Tehran “hundreds of millions of dollars every single day” and argued sweeping U.S. sanctions are also squeezing the regime.

“If they hit, we would hit back 100 times harder,” Trump warned.

Asked whether the conflict stretching close to the midterm elections concerned him politically, Trump pointed to gasoline prices and his push to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

“They cannot have nuclear weapons. It’s very simple,” Trump said.

“We have a blockade that is like a wall of steel,” he added. “Nobody’s ever seen anything like it.”

If we don’t have missiles left to destroy Iran’s dams, bridges, and power plants, why not fill an old 737 with ammonium nitrate and fly it remotely into the target?

I’m behind our President on this completely. I think he’s going to cook the Iranians.

We might own it but it still looks like a soviet supermarket.

The people initiating the attacks are probably not the people on the receiving end of America’s response. The IRGC is set up like WWII resistance cells.

The Houthis (and Iran) just launched many missiles and are attacking Saudi Arabia. Even though the Saudis signed a defense pact with Turkey and Pakistan, their partners are no where to be found. The US Carriers are repositioning now, so we will see where this goes.

It's his way of talking.

That's where folks pretend he's stupid or play offended because of his “style.”

Heads up, of course we're not invading Greenland either. But the Danes got the point, and today they are basing more troops and air defense there.

Hormuz isn't going to be a US territory either, BUT we largely control it, and I suspect in time that will become greater. Point taken.

If you want someone to talk freely, off the cuff (not where every word is scripted and he's reading from a prompter), you CANNOT expect every word to be calculated - BUT, that is far more sincere in its spirit/feeling.

I personally like his style. It's “plain-folk,” and “to the point,” lacking the typical “political correctness.” The way he communicates is real.

The guy is smart and frankly, it's his communication style that has allowed him to survive politically.

The MSM and social media have a hard time labeling, defining what they claim he said, and silencing him. Trump forces them to talk about what he wants, he gets his chance to get his side of the story out even though they would love to bury him in what they interpret everything to mean, and they can't shut the guy up even if they ban him from platforms and censor him as was literally done at the end of his first term.

If you had someone like the former Bob Dole (a great character, smart, patriotic and conservative) the MSM would essentially run over him and define the narrative. He would be like Tape Face: https://www.onthemic.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Sam-Wills.jpg And since the MSM and social media overwhelmingly side with Democrats and have a far left ideology they embrace, guess how that narrative would sound?

If Trumps style makes you cringe at times, because you expect a more reserved, measured, and polite mannered POTUS, realize two things: (1) He's actually not unique, you've had some pretty loud and rambunctious types in the past (think Teddy Roosevelt). (2) If you're conservative, even if his style seems over the top and at times un-presidential, it achieves the effect he's looking for and allows him to survive (think George W. where the MSM defined the narrative with Iraq once that war became political in 2004 because the Democrats went against the war, even though they voted for it.).

And guess what:

As of 2 weeks ago, over 1,000 ships did get through (far more now).

https://www.facebook.com/CENTCOM/posts/the-southern-route-through-the-strait-of-hormuz-remains-free-and-open-for-all-co/1432901782218131/

There is a route that is open.

There is a pipeline already, inadequate, but something.

Another under ground pipeline is being built.

Finally, Iran is only 4.5% of the global oil production and most of that goes to Asia. With the US and Venezuela breaking records in oil production, is the loss really so great? Probably not, and the oil market after the initial hype calmed down and prices came back down: https://www.macrotrends.net/2566/crude-oil-prices-today-live-chart (it’s been far higher before and we’re at $82 a barrel - set it for 3 months to get a good graphic over time vs. cost)

Are you telling me Iran is running our blockade and making it through? LOL

—Who do you think is really hurting right now, us?

—Or Iran where 23% of their entire GDP is from oil, and over 50% of their governments revenue comes from oil?

Let me practice some apologetics: Trump isn’t in any hurry since time is now on our side. It’s Iran that will feel the pain more and more as time goes on.

I love it and hope it's true. The sooner the better. Take all the islands first! Show the whole world the facts on the ground!

All those claims could arguably be considered as achieved.

It just depends on who you want to assign credibility to.

With your supposed dramatic meme, it is obviously that you think Heels-Up Harris could do better, or Biden could have done better, or possibly you if you were in charge, since you think you can assert superiority by pointing out what you consider shortcomings of someone else.
