A sailor went overboard earlier this month off of the USS Abraham Lincoln, three US officials told CNN, amid reports of worsening mental health for crew members on the ship during an extended deployment for the Iran war.

The sailor was rescued within an hour, according to one of the officials, and was medically evaluated. A different official said that the sailor had gone overboard wearing a life vest and was not injured, adding that the Navy considered the incident a mental health episode.

“There have been widespread reports of shortages of basic supplies, water contamination, plumbing issues, deteriorating mental health, deck safety concerns,” aboard the ship, he said in the letter, as well as “disruptions in the mail system, which have caused many care packages in route to the ship to be lost in transit for months.”

Add to that the war on diversity, which it seems like those in the Navy would be particularly sensitive about, and this is what you get.

Sounds like this is a sailor that regretted enlisting but not enough to jump without a life vest. Wonder what he would have done in Vietnam with a 12 month tour.

All ships have at least one weirdo aboard. If he can’t handle it, kick him out. Today’s generation is weak. I used to spend weeks loading projectiles into the gun during war games and practice. We only came up to eat and shower.

He's 19...his wife is 19...one child is 3 1/2...the other is a year old. The kid wants out...

One complaint I read was that they there has been no milk and they have to eat cereal dry. If powdered milk was good for soldiers in the past, it's good enough for these guys. And I don't believe a lot of what I read. Did they think they were going to a Five Star hotel??

4000 sailors on the Abraham Lincoln and they found ONE who wasn’t happy?

Faux News led off their prime time “news” broadcast tonight with this story.

The execrable Brett Baier was oh-so-concerned while the disgusting communist Jennifer Griffin could barely contain her glee.

Guess they’ve really got ol’ Pistol Pete with the goods this time, huh?

BTW, I’ve done about a half-dozen deployments back in the day; on every one we always had 2-3 sailors disappear, usually on the first night out of Norfolk. Fools thought they could swim 20 miles back to the beach.

Life on nuclear carrier is a lot better than life was back in WWII or Korea

I’ve been on a small carrier/LHA in a war zone during the first Iranian dust up.

We did 105 days continuous at sea. Drank that beer on steel beach.

It was hard work, but we could have done another hundred days. The only thing we ran short of was fresh vegetables and milk.

I’m more concerned with this concerted effort by media...aided by a dozen pussies aboard...to undermine the esteem these sailors warrant. As always, getting the job done.

Bravo Abe Lincoln, BRAVO!!

He could say that about the USPS in the states.
