Assemblymember James Ramos, D-Highland, has reached an impasse with opponents of the California Indian Freedom Act, both parties said ahead of a key Senate committee vote Thursday. Ramos’s measure seeks to give Native Americans more say over government agency actions on state-owned land that may interfere with traditional customs and spiritual practices. The bill is one of the more ambitious efforts from Ramos, the Legislature’s only Native American lawmaker, who said he wants to ensure people can’t be blocked access to sacred sites or halted from engaging in traditional customs on government land

In Canada, the “First Nations” racket has vast control over the governance of the country. This is the first step in CA to that
Funny how tribal lands runs along I5 corridor 🤔. If they are sovereign nations they should stay on the reservation, we can no longer allow “separate people”. It is divisive and it leaves indians in a huge pitty party.
In addition, how much in taxes do they contribute, I’d like to see the breakdown of what the contribute to taxes and what they take.
Native American tribes do not pay federal income or state taxes on casino earnings because they are sovereign governments.
It is all sacred ground the indians want to protect from the invasive white man, until the white man needs a place to dump his garbage.
For the right price, the land is not considered sacred any more.
Uh, no! Next!
You mean opponents of the bill have reservations?...............
The Hoopa Valley reservation in Northern California is perhaps the largest one of only a few with substantial acerage. Most Indian lands are small areas known as Rancherias. They are just the right size for a few families to band together and open a casino. That brings a new meaning to BINGO!!
We in AZ are still affected, when Biden canceled the Oak Flat copper mine project (the biggest copper deposit anywhere on the Earth!), because some supposed sacred sites on the land.
It is like 50 miles from nearest Reservation.
They claimed and delayed the I 202 extension in Phoenix for years, also claiming some sacred sites.
Archeologists found nothing!
Basically, if spotted owl fails, the Luddites (Sierra club, etc.) claim “sacred sites”!
So Do NOT do it!!!
