‘Significant casualties and damage are likely,’ according to the US Geological Survey.
What we know so far • A 7.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded Monday in western Colombia, according to the US Geological Survey.
• The epicenter was located in San José del Palmar, in the department of Chocó, about 280 kilometers (or about 173 miles) west of Bogotá. The tremor was felt strongly in the nation’s capital — alarms sounded, and in many buildings people evacuated to the streets as a precaution.
• The governor of Colombia’s northwestern area of Chocó confirmed “there are injured people and severe damage to buildings” in the regional capital.

If the damage is far less than would be expected, bet it’s mostly to do with the depth.
The video on the CNN site of a four-story apartment building collapsing is heartbreaking.
So far looks like only one aftershock, per USGS...
