Serious questions for Cambridge after professor at centre of plagiarism row resigns

The University of Cambridge is facing serious questions about its academic standards and push for diversity after its youngest black professor resigned amid allegations of copying other academics' research.

Jason Arday's appointment in 2023 was hailed at the time as a progressive moment. Now, Cambridge says it has launched an investigation after "new information" emerged about his academic qualifications and honorary appointments.

There are two fundamental questions for the university.

Did it fail to adequately check Arday's credentials when appointing him, and did it defend that decision because of an institutional push to position itself as more diverse?

DEI bites againas it did at one of my former employers when they discovered a DEI "lawyer" they'd hired never had a law license.

Gee, that requires an investigation?

My three year old grandson just said yes to both of them.

I am really sorry to see the steep decline in standards and ethics in the academic world

I was at ground zero of the start of the PC identity politics epidemic

Knew it was bad and was capable of much damage but never in my wildest nightmare did I ever think it would take over the way it has and mutate into our current DEI debacle

And that’s where Dei always goes. In their rush to virtue signal how “not racist” they are and hire skin color over competency, leftists constantly get bit in the arse almost daily anymore when reality hits. Not that they will ever admit it because they live in their own La La Land, but truth and reality are nonnegotiable, no matter how much they try to change that.

Un-frickin'-believable.......didnt learn to read til he was 18.... ..and is now a professor?

Something's rotten in Cambridge.

DEI has a huge drawback----among many----it removes one's ability to think rationally.

You don't say....../s.

Cambridge is facing serious questions about its academic standards ......and its crazed push for "diversity" after its youngest black professor resigned accused of plagiarism.

The Black brainiac was apparently copying other academics' research.

Jason Arday's 2023 hire was hailed as......drum roll, please......... a "progressive" moment (upchuck).

Now, Cambridge says it has launched an investigation after "new information"
emerged about Arday's "academic qualifications" and "honorary appointments."

I think this DEI push grew exponentially here in the US, after the SC ruled against giving people preference according to race. What they could no longer achieve through the law, they instead used social action to get what they wanted.

his back-story is obviously BS, no one overcomes that much adversity in such a short space of time. Cambridge believed because they wanted to believe

Mayor in IA city a non-citizen illegal alien?

I could make a list of false “facts” both related and not related to DEI or any other agenda. Of course, ego and money are the most common agenda.

Bottom line: Humans are sinful.

Try the fantasist route in the business world and find out how fast you are booted.

Only in academia, especially in liberal arts academia, is this glaring nonsense tolerated and encouraged.

I will be paying for my grandchildren’s higher education in a few years. I am also going to very carefully monitor their choices.

If the piper pays, you dance to his tune.

Guy’s a con artist......a practiced liar. Even lied about his hobbies.

The con artist nomenclature fits him well.

He knew what the Cambridge suckers were looking for....and cut his fake bgrnd to fit the con.

Reminds me of that phony, Jayson Blair, a disgraced black former “journalist” for The New York Times who resigned in May 2003 after it was discovered he had fabricated, plagiarized, and invented stories on a massive scale.

Over a four-year period—especially between 2002 and 2003—Blair regularly wrote articles claiming he was reporting from locations across the United States when he was actually sitting in his Brooklyn apartment. He concocted scenes, fabricated quotes, and stole material from other news outlets.

His most notable fake story was a dispatch supposedly from Palestine, West Virginia, about the family of Jessica Lynch, an American POW rescued in Iraq. He described the family’s home overlooking fields that didn’t exist and quoted family members who later stated they had never spoken to him.

The Times eventually published a massive front-page investigation exposing 36 fraudulent articles. The scandal severely damaged the paper’s credibility and led to the resignations of its top two editors, Howell Raines and Gerald Boyd.

A conman to the bitter end, he detailed his actions
in his 2004 memoir, “Burning Down My Master’s House.”

Jason Arday: Cambridge professor in plagiarism row quits -
BBC https://www.bbc.com

After a series of media reports questioning his achievements and blatant plagiarism in his PhD thesis, the self-serving con artist..... Jason Arday....... said he had “concluded that the only way to bring this chapter to an end is to step away”.

Those that hired him are a bunch of prime suckers and should be terminated.

There’s no cost associated with a Cambridge education, correct? Because someone would have to be really stupid or deranged to give them money, right?

Don’t let the media play this game. There are serious questions about Cambridge and every other “elite” university (and a lot of other universities) before and after Jason Arday because their standards have been rotten for decades. If you lift up the rock, you will find dozens of Jason Ardays in a lot of universities, mainly “of color” but a good number of useless white Jason Ardays too.

“New information” usually means information we already had but chose to ignore in hopes we could keep it hidden, and because we were desperate to create a black genius, so great is out sense of white guilt.
