2026 is turning into a bloodbath for safe-seat House Democrats
Axios via MSN ^ | Aug. 5, 2026 | Andrew Solender

A half dozen House Democrats in safe districts have lost their primaries so far this election cycle — and many more could soon follow suit.

Why it matters: Many of these losses are the result of growing restlessness among the Democratic grassroots that has increasingly morphed into anger towards the party establishment.

"I expected a lot of people to run because they didn't know how to respond to Trump without just being active," Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wisc.) told Axios He added: "We're seeing that and all the primary electorate voting right now." Driving the news: Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) on Wednesday became the latest incumbent to fall short in his primary, losing to state Rep. Donavan McKinney despite a heavy spending advantage.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Axios being a more or less internal Democrat information sheet, this article probably gives one of the best descriptions of the current problems facing the DemonRats in the primary.

Even if the establishment Dem wins the primary, I think it likely that their more petulant leftists won’t bother to vote.

Whether they turn out will depend upon how much they hate Trump.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), who is facing criticism for running in a plurality Black district.

So, a white person can't run in a "plurality black district", but its whites who are the racists, right? OK, so I guess blacks can't run in "plurality white districts"? Is that how this works?

The left is so unbelievably twisted.

More likely they're safe in a Hispanic or Black district.

If they're in an affluent district or in NYC where they have people literally coming off the boat, then yes this is where the DSA candidates are making inroads in the Democratic Party.

It would be wonderful if Mark Pocan would meet the same fate when his reelection comes.

Cheating and flipping elections is what the far-left does. Of course with the help of DS. So they are collecting money and winning primaries to do just that.

We are whistling past the graveyard to think that they are going to be content losing to GOP candidates in the general elections.

This is real. It is really happening. The Senate is compromised and will NOT pass the Save America Act.

They are on the take, in large measure.

POTUS needs to plan to execute his emergency executive double-secret order to save the elections.

I sure hope he has a smart lawyer among his staff.

Not holding my breath.

Once a Rat says, 'I'm no longer a Rat only, I'm a Socialist too,' then that means, 'Murder, including political assassination and mass murder, in camps if possible, all of the above are now in my toolbox and are all A-OK with me.'

Their identification as Socialists/Communists means nothing less.

People need to accept this and the US Govt needs to prepare for enforcing sedition and treason laws.

These things have zilch to do with *general* elections. There is, so far, at most one example out of 435 House seats where Dems may fail to *pick up* a winnable seat because they nominated a radical nutjob in a non-radical (but still Rat-friendly) district.

That would be Michigan’s 7th district which on Tuesday nominated a Bernie Bro who has never held a real job in his life, over a pair of more “mainstream” yet still ultra-liberal Democrats (much like what happened in the Senate race in that state).

There is NO House district which Rats currently hold but will be losing to a Republican in November simply because their candidate is far too wacko for the district.

As far as the Senate:

Graham Platner was too wacko for Maine, but that’s not why he was replaced. And his replacement is exactly the same as Platner.

James Talarico is far too wacko for Texas but is, at worst, neck and neck in the polls.

Ayatollah El-Sayed is overly wacko for Michigan (or is he?) and he too is no worse than even money to win in November.

This is a way of further radicalizing the party using the AOC techniques -- put the most radical people possible into seats that the GOP has virtually no chance of winning.

The GOP needs to nationalize this race and put the crackpot ideas of these radicals -- and the Republican alternative -- front and center. Make the Democrats in toss-up seats defend the crackpots.

This is the results of Nancy Pelosi’s “it's for the children” socialist policies.

Now the Pelosi Democrats are being taken out by the resulting DSA children it was all for .
