Labour take five-point poll lead over Reform in new ‘Burnham bounce’

Labour is reaping the benefits of ousting Sir Keir Starmer as leader as fresh polling shows further evidence of an “Andy Burnham bounce”, with the party now five points clear of Reform UK.

In a poll conducted by BMG Research exclusively for The i Paper, Labour has overtaken Nigel Farage’s party. The survey found that 28 per cent of respondents said they would vote for Burnham’s party, compared with 23 per cent who backed Reform.

The Conservatives are in third, according to the polling, with 20 per cent, followed by the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party, which are both on 10 per cent.

If repeated at a general election, the results would make Labour comfortably the biggest party but still just shy of an overall majority and well short of the landslide they secured in 2024.

It marks the third poll this week to show Labour ahead of the right-wing party, providing solid evidence of a “Burnham bounce”, according to experts. It is the first time in 16 months that any party other than Reform has led a BMG poll.

Rob Struthers, research director at BMG, said the latest figures mean “we can begin to be confident that the Burnham bounce is real”.

They first tried this in the US with Kamala. Didn’t work. Then with Carney in Canada. It worked. Now in GB. The left is always on the march.

Nigel’s ego won’t allow it.

England is dead. I see no path back for them. 26% of the voters are enough to take a crippled country and send it to the morgue.

At this point, it’s just rearranging the deck chairs on The Titanic.

Rupert Lowe’s offer of cooperation with Reform is very persuasive and I hope he and Nigel find a way to unite. The death of Britain would be a catastrophic event for the West and civilization. Britain’s current trajectory inevitably leads its Islamification and societal suicidal.

Given that both Farage and Reform UK have problems presently, let us hope Farage will see this as a possible way out.

Britain is extremely important for the West, but ever since 28 November 1990 its downhill trajectory has been very steep. The Brexit vote in 2016 was a reprieve, but unfortunately, so far, it has not been used in any useful way.

The problem with Brexit, is that it resulted in Brits being in charge of it.

In the UK there are like 8 political parties which fragment the vote. The last time Labor got to make Starmer PM with about 36% of the vote.

What a system where a party could get 28% of the vote and win in a massive landslide, due to the opposition splitting their votes between 3 parties.
