Education is free. It may not be good. But that is the fault of the educators. Its expensive to the taxpayer. We are spending more for less. But education through college is free or nearly free. Stupid private education can be expensive. But its also a stupid expense that does not help your career.

I agree. The children from my combined family all went to college and graduated with degrees.
Only the CPA with a masters degree is working in her field. The other three do nothing related to their education.
She makes well over 200k.
The other three struggle.

That is not true. My Political Science degree has not impeded me from getting IT work for 30 years. Many of my co-workers have had Philosophy, Humanities, English, History degrees. The employers still want "A" degree, but mist won't eliminate you if you have something. They shouldn't even require the degree, but they do.

If I had access to just Grok and Google AI in college in the early 80’s, I could have gotten my EE degree in 50-70% of the time that it took then. No reason now for most kids to blow 4 years in college for undergraduate degrees.

Plus computerized tools for circuit design. I about ruined my eyesight using breadboards. And Interactive Development Environments for programming (vs. mainframes and punchcards).

Kids today have so much useful tech at their fingertips, it boggles the mind.

But at least I didn’t have to deal with slide rules. Back when I was in school, you could write rudimentary programs on calculators. Saved times on homework and tests, but that was about it.
