Russia's state oil and gas revenue, which accounts for around a fifth of total budget income, is seen rising ‌by 60% in July from the same month a year ago thanks to the increase in global oil prices, Reuters calculations showed on Thursday.

A steep rise from profit-based tax proceeds on oil production for the second quarter has also contributed to the overall year-on-year revenue rise.

Russia, the world's third-largest oil producer and exporter after the United States and Saudi Arabia, relies heavily on oil and gas sales, which help finance its military campaign in Ukraine. Oil and gas tax ‌revenue for January to July is still likely to decline by 11% from the same period in 2025, to 4.9 billion roubles.

Because of the Uke strikes against Russian refineries, they sell oil to places like India at a discount, and then buy refined product at a premium.

They lose money on every gallon of gas, diesel, and motor oil they now have to import.

That’s not helping Russia a lot.

There are a bunch of “no ID” Russian tankers of the “ghost fleet” stuck on the wrong sides of the strait now. Since a full battle group, or maybe two, just happens to be in the area, Trump could make some of the costs up by seizing the tankers as contraband.

Ukrainian forces struck one of the main factory halls of the "VMP AVITEK" company in Kirov, Russia. The burning building only recently was modernized. According to Kirov region Governor Alexander Sokolov, 6 people were killed and 26 were injured.

I’ve got news for you...

Europe has been violating both the spirit and intent of Russian energy sanctions for years.

These strikes may be the most effective strategy yet. Plenty of ordinary Russians who had no problem with bombing Ukrainian civilians are up in arms about their personal wealth being destroyed.

The Russians are complaining again about lost goods in burned-out warehouses, but they don't seem to grasp the cause-and-effect relationship.
