MADISON, Wis. -- A portion of Williamson Street near the site where police shot and killed a man will be closed through mid-morning on Thursday.

City of Madison officials said the street will stay closed from South Dickinson Street to South Few Street "to ensure public safety." There will be message boards and signs set out to alert drivers of the closures. It is unclear when exactly the street will reopen.

According to city officials Thursday afternoon, officials are currently discussing details on the street closures and assessing options to ensure the situation is "safe."

Madison police shot and killed a man in his 30s on Wednesday at the intersection of Williamson and Baldwin streets. Police Chief John Patterson said the man was armed with a knife and injured one of the four officers who were trying to detain him.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is examining evidence from the scene and will turn over its findings to the Dane County District Attorney's Office.

What sort of drivel is this? Is it possible there may have been some events leading up to this man’s demise? LOL

Concerts on the Square cancelled due to protests

(This is going to annoy the Chablis-sippin’ Socialists in ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan’ no doubt!)

MADISON, Wis.— Concerts on the Square was cancelled on Wednesday night due to protests.

Protesters took a bullhorn and seen yelling at patrons seated at tables.

Earlier Wednesday, a man in his 30s died after a police officer shot him during an altercation.

Madison police received an initial call around 1 p.m. in the Marquette neighborhood regarding a man “checking vehicles.” Police arrived to the area and found the man, who they said left the scene on a bicycle.

The man was found near the intersection of South Baldwin Street and East Williamson Street at around 1:30 p.m.

During a press conference Wednesday evening, Police Chief John Patterson said four officers were involved, two of whom were injured during the altercation. It was undetermined as to how the man on the bicycle fell.

Police said the suspect allegedly pulled out a fix-blade knife, to which an officer pulled out a taser. The same officer shot him with a gun.

Live-saving measures were attempted to the man, who was then taken to the hospital. Patterson confirmed the man later died.

According to Patterson, the officer who shot the man is a “veteran police officer.” All four officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, per district policy.

Madison Public Market postpones grand opening in wake of police shooting

MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Public Market postponed its grand opening on Thursday.

The decision comes a day after a Madison police officer shot and killed Corey Ruiz on the city’s near-east side. Police said Ruiz was armed with a knife and injured one of the four officers who was trying to detain him.

The market was scheduled to hold events and tours throughout Thursday to celebrate the grand opening. The project, which is decades in the making, was set to finally come to fruition.

A publicized protest at the market was scheduled for 3:30 p.m., with protesters expected to call for the arrest of the officer who shot Ruiz as well as an investigation into the shooting.

Market officials expressed their condolences to Ruiz’s family and loved ones.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Corey Durell Ruiz, to everyone impacted by this tragedy, and hope for healing, peace, and comfort for our entire community in the days ahead,” organizers said.

FYI: This ‘Madison Public Market’ is a FREE FOOD spot for those in need. And, you know, whatever illegals show up...

I’m actually kind of IMPRESSED with the Madistan police leadership who DID NOT give the miscreants a venue to protest and burn parts of Madistan to the grounds.

This is seriously a FIRST for them - and we don’t even have a Conservative Police Chief in charge these days! What gives? ;)

Seriously? People are going to protest for a career criminal who pulled a knife on cops?

Yes.

It doesn’t make any sense, unless you look at it from a different perspective. One where the goal is to increase the level of chaos. Make sense?

Minneapolis had it’s “grande summer of love”. It looks like the female cop stepped up and shot the crook. Why? She will be thrown under the bus and sent to prison.

Here’s the good news: No state or fed funds will be used to incarcerate this criminal.
