The top US and Russian diplomats met in a new push to find an end to Moscow's more-than-four-year-old war on Ukraine, but both sides signaled no new breakthroughs or cause for optimism.
The July 23 meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov came with US-efforts to broker a peace deal frozen as the Trump administration shifts focus to the Iran war, and the Kremlin shows no sign of softening its maximalist war demands.

Russia has to import refined petroleum products, mostly from India, at high prices. Since most of that goes to the military, the domestic economy is declining rapidly.
The Ukes have also been successfully attacking supply depots, including dual use military/domestic warehouses, which also upsets regular Rooskies. This has especially hurt Russian drone production.
Trump needs to make peace with Russia, which is not our ideological enemy. Something like this:
1. We go neutral on Ukraine and remove all sanctions and trade bartiers.
2.They cease all aid to scoundrel regimes, Muslim and communst. No loopholes or cheating.
Like Trump once said “sometimes you just have to let them fight it out”.
