A white man who was charged with assaulting a police officer has had the case against him dropped following a row about two-tier policing.
Cody Harper, 20, was arrested after being assaulted by two black men in the early hours of June 21 in Birmingham.
Footage shared on social media showed Mr Harper being pushed to the ground by one man while another tried to punch him in the back of the head.
A female West Midlands Police (WMP) officer then appears to push Mr Harper against a wall as he is getting up, to which he reacts by swinging his arm and punching her in the head.
He was initially charged with assault on an emergency worker by the force and was set to appear at Birmingham magistrates’ court on Thursday.
However, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has dropped the case against Mr Harper after concluding there was “insufficient evidence” to prosecute him.
It is understood that the video footage that went viral following his arrest undermined the suggestion he knew he was assaulting a police officer.
In it, he can be seen getting to his feet, seconds after being attacked, when he is pushed into the wall and swings out at the officer.
As a result, prosecutors could not realistically have proved he was assaulting a police officer, meaning the case had to be discontinued.

The police made sure the two black men that assaulted him got away. Mission Accomplished.
Good news, but what about the two thugs who attacked him? Why were they allowed to walk away and why is nobody angry about that?
Finally the good guys win one in Britain.
Ok, so now fire and then charge the bitch that pushed him!
They were black. Two tier policing.
And the 8 other officer in that clown car arrest. You have to see the whole video to believe it. Like something out of the old Mack Sennet studios in the silent movie days.
“White” is meant to be the first thing you see and/or think about. Doubtful this would be done in such an ‘in yo face!’ style if suspect was not white.

People are. The press and police are conspicuously avoiding bringing it up, as usual.
Immigration has probably made prison life much more stressful and brutal for Britain like integration of prisoners did in America.

Luckily he wasn’t stabbed. No telling what the police would’ve done to him.
He is not going to get his money back for bonding out of jail or cost of lost money for missed work or compensation for trauma of jail time unless he files a civil suit and hires a lawyer. The legal system sux.
I LOVE living in the least diverse areas in the country. I don’t even know where the key is to my sliding glass door. No violence. No thievery. No melanin. No Spanish. I guess I am missing out on “our greatest strength.” (And I am fine with that)
They are allowed to walk free because they are neighbors.
When I saw the headline I assumed the incident happened in Alabama.
Oh that Birmingham..
