Are Democrat voters in California tired of 16 years of one-party rule?
The Steve Hilton campaign just published a full-page advertisement in the San Francisco Chronicle and the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday.

Here is Hilton’s simple test:
_ I can’t stand Trump, but I’m not happy with the way things have been run in California lately.
_ I just want California to be amazing, but we make it so hard to live here.
_ I keep hearing about affordable housing, but it never seems to happen.
_ I want government to be properly funded, but do taxes really have to be this high?
_ I’m all for solar power, but I can barely afford my electric bill.
_ I feel compassion for the homeless, but we need to get people off the streets and into care.
_ I support progressive goals, but running a business here is nearly impossible.
_ I want to fight climate change, but $6.00 gas is crazy!
_ I believe in public education, but something’s not right when basic standards and discipline are so low.
_ I’m a Democrat, but I want to send a message that we need a change.
Hilton says if you answer even one of the test questions, you should vote for him in November.
This isn’t Steve Hilton distancing himself from President Trump. In fact, Steve has consistently said he is proud to have the President’s endorsement.
Hilton is trying to reach the largest number of persuadable voters who are dissatisfied with California’s direction but did not vote for President Trump.
Interestingly and very telling, Hilton leads Becerra among independent voters.
Hilton’s internal poll found that 52 percent of likely general election voters believe California is on the wrong track, and 66 percent say the state needs a complete overhaul, Newsweek reported. “This new poll confirms the race for governor is wide open,” Hilton said in a press release.
“Despite the usual headline numbers, Xavier Becerra’s support is soft. He can count on only 41% of the vote, with 26% of voters up for grabs and looking for change, especially solutions to the affordability crisis that Becerra’s machine created and to which he has no answers at all — he doesn’t even think anything needs to change.”
Whenever I am asked when California voters will stop voting stupidly for Democrats, the answer is always the same: When Democrats are fed up with living under leftist policies, and will vote for common sense politicians and policies.
Californians do not have to have voted for President Trump in the last election or be registered as a Republican to vote for Steve Hilton. They simply have to believe that California needs a different direction.
He’ll lose but keep his scalp. No hair to grab.
Hilton will lose even if he wins (cf. “how Democrats count votes”).
He’ll be cheated out of it just like all the rest of the republicans here in this one party state.
I hope he hires Pratt’s PR team.
I was surprised to see how bad it is now with Real Clear Politics average of 57% Dem to 34% Hilton. If polls are accurate.
So many of the inhabitants of large cities in California are from the Third World. They want things to continue getting dirty, smelly, corrupt, crime-ridden, maggot-infested, rampantly ignorant and backwards because it reminds them so much of home.
A big problem here in Ca is that most people don’t vote at all, and that includes many that would vote for republicans if they did. People here are kept very ignorant of politics and have become very complacent about them.
If somehow Hilton could reach large numbers of the people who normally don’t vote, he could get to within single digits of the communist candidate.
If he doesn’t stop the fraud ballots, no amount of cajoling will do the trick. Illegals voting. Ballot harvesting. Paying drug addicts to write in signatures. Motor voter signups.
The trouble is that there are no persuadable voters in leftist CA: hasn’t been for decades.
I don’t see Hilton even reaching 40 percent. He’s a great candidate, but there are insufficient takers.

In a state where Democrats have a voter edge of over 2 to 1 over Republicans, you shouldn’t really expect a different outcome.
If we want California, we have to fight for it with money, time, and effort. We haven’t bothered.

He’s beating the numbers in a state where Democrats have a 2 to 1 advantage in registered voters.
How does Hilton plan to deal with the supermajority in the state house? They won’t let a single thing he wants get through.
Hilton is great but the dems just stole LA election in front of the whole country. and they didn’t care.
they will do the same thing to Hilton in the governor’s race. there is just too much at stake for them to let this election be even close to fair.

You’re probably right; in a normal year about 41% is the pinnacle for any statewide GOP candidate in the Land of Fruits and Nuts these days.
The last GOP candidate for Governor or Senator who achieved even 42% in California was Carly Fiorina in 2010 against tired old Barbara Boxer. And Boxer still won by 10 points.
If 2026 leans “blue” overall, which it certainly has so far, then even 40% is probably unattainable for Hilton.
