Asbury Theological Seminary, a 103-year-old Kentucky evangelical seminary, is no longer approved as a school for United Methodist candidates for ordained ministry, the school announced June 25. It attributed its removal by the United Methodist Church’s university accrediting body to the school’s objections to a new version of the denomination’s social principles that no longer solely affirm heterosexual marriage.
In its acknowledgment of the decision, the seminary based in Wilmore, Kentucky, said “this outcome reflects a determination made by the UMC rather than a shared resolution.”
A statement from the UMC General Board of Higher Education and Ministry said that the June meeting of the denomination’s University Senate included the removal of both Asbury and Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, New York, from its “list of approved non-United Methodist schools.”

I never would have believed, that there would be schisms, in religious denominations, over issues of homosexuality and homosexual marriage.
But that is what we are seeing.
Are any mainstream religious denominations performing homosexual marriages? I didn’t know if any were actually performing homosexual marriages in their denominations or incorporating same sex marriage into their theology.
But the way the trends are going, it may just be a matter of time.
All of the so-called main line Protestant churches are not merely shrinking, they are collapsing. And, it’s not just us in the U.S. It’s mainline Protestants all around the world.
In the case of the Anglicans and the Methodists, there is some hope for these two denominations because the church in Africa is conservative on doctrine and social teaching.
About a quarter to a third, and these were the larger, more robust churches.
And that doesn't even account for the thousands of smaller churches that WANTED to disaffiliate but couldn't come up with their "protection" money.
In the 1960s there were 12 million in the UMC. Before this split there were less than 5 million. 1/4 of the Churches left the UMC.
The UMC is a generic protestant feminized church. There are more over 50 than under 50 in the US.
The 2030’s will look like an extinction level event for the UMC.
I think we should just go back to locking them up in mental asylums.
I am baffled how any religious organization can interpret the bible in such a way as to indulge them.
I don't give them even that long.
Surprisingly the CRC in 2022 affirmed the traditional biblical position on marriage. At least 40 churches split off and some 30 ministers changed affiliation.

Yep, I’ve been watching the “nones” affiliations growing as other mainline church groups contract for over a decade now. I don’t consider this a bad thing necessarily because, as you say, the tares are being burned.
Jesus regularly pared down His following with hard teaching. At the end, “they all forsook him and fled.”
God is no respecter of people or organizations. If they defect from His word, He hands them over to destruction. The early church met in homes and disallowed people committed to sin and evil. It appears we are back at this point now. Organizations that cater to LGBT abominations are already destroyed. The just don’t know it yet.
It's interesting to see how many other perverted beliefs they hold other than the LGBT heresies as well. It's in all-inclusive package.
They are no doubt worried that Asbury graduates would not go along with the UMC’s goal of leading its flocks down the road to perdition.
I grew up in the UMC. I knew pastors who were Asbury graduates. The UMC is now as foreign to me as Zoroastrianism.
