Burnham says he will scrap VAT [Sales tax] from household electricity bills as new cabinet to meet for first time
BBC ^ | July 21 | BBC

Summary

Andy Burnham says he will remove VAT (Sales tax) from electricity bills in October, cutting the rate from 5% to 0%

This will be funded by scrapping Keir Starmer's digital ID scheme, No 10 says, but former minister Darren Jones argues the ID scheme was "unfunded"

The new government "will have to set out how it will pay for its new policies at the Budget", Jones says

Pushed on whether savings had been found for digital IDs, Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds tells the BBC "they would have had to have been", calling today's announcement a "legitimate decision"

Later on, the new cabinet will meet for the first time - after becoming PM on Monday, Burnham appointed John Healey as chancellor, Ed Miliband as foreign secretary and Wes Streeting as defence secretary

He's cutting taxes while scrapping digital ID.

What's going on here? Does not compute.

Burnham is unelected.

He represents no one but the Klaus Schwab NWO Globalists who want to destroy Britain.

Well, in the USA everything under the sun is taxed...often multiple times. We need relief too!

Reform says this:

@RobertJenrick

I want VAT scrapped from energy bills - it’s the least people should expect and better than where we were. In fact, Nigel Farage and I were the first to propose this back in March.

But it saves just £45. This isn’t enough. Reform UK would go much further, taking £200 off your energy bill, by also scrapping the green taxes that have been loaded on by stealth - paid for by ditching wasteful net zero subsidies.

Burnham has chosen to keep them, because he puts net zero zealotry ahead of tackling the cost of living - just like his predecessor. He’s gone an inch, when he could have gone much further.

And Burnham’s numbers don’t add up.

He says he’ll pay for the VAT cut by scrapping Digital ID. One problem: that measure isn’t in the Government books, so he’s not actually saving the Exchequer any money that’s been committed. It was forecast to cost £1.8 billion, of which £600 million was recurring spend. The VAT cut is going to cost almost £2 billion. So even if the ID money had been found through savings elsewhere, as far as I can tell, three quarters of it is unfunded.

That’s Burnhamomics.

Where is the rest of the money coming from? The same goes for defence spending, which is presumably about to go up with John Healey as Chancellor.

Like Reform, he could find savings from spending on foreign aid, welfare waste, net zero, bloated quangos, but Labour would never wear it. Beyond that, what can he cut? schools, the NHS, the police?

So, we’re looking at tax rises. Hikes that no one voted for.

In fact, Burnham has called for £38 billion in tax rises in recent times or £3,450 for every family. He’s refused to rule them out.

I can’t help but notice that half of Burnham’s cabinet, including the Prime Minister, served under Gordon Brown. John Healey used to carry Brown’s bags at the Treasury.

This Government will end the same way — with the economy even more broken than it is today, and working people paying the price.

I think that he is trying to establish a government that smiles on the outside, but knifes you in the back.

A socialist does not drop a tax, unless there is something else that he wants.

The question is, why is the digital ID so important to their plans, that they will give up a small thing for it?

After all, the basic idea about the entire VAT tax scheme is that these are taxes on producers.

Maybe it was never correct to use the term “Great” Britain. It hasn’t done anything great in decades.

Do they run a multi-trillion deficit over there?

Since talk is cheap, watch what the UK’s Deep State says, not what it does.

Case in point...

Shabana Mahmood is not going anywhere.

One more...

The UK’s Deep State is going to nationalize Thames Water.

The electricity prices are high, because of green policies raised them.
The 5% tax is drop in the bucket!

And on the subject of Thames Water, I just asked AI about water loss and this was the answer, sourced to info from TW and the UK governmemt...

“Thames Water loses roughly 22.7% of its treated water through leaking pipes. This means that for every 100 liters of drinking water treated, nearly 23 liters never make it to a customer’s tap.

Across the industry, the UK’s water regulator, Ofwat, oversees these targets. They require water companies to report exactly how much of their distribution input (the total water put into the supply network) leaks out before reaching homes.

Thames Water’s leakage rate of 22.7% makes it one of the highest among the major water suppliers in England, though the company has been actively upgrading its 20,000 miles of pipes to reduce these losses.”

And the UK is going to nationalize it.

Oh, good luck with that.

“Correction: the debt is, not the deficit”

No matter, our despicable uniparty Congress piles every day about $6,000,000,000 on the national debt permanently which is accumulated on the national debt of about $42 TRILLION by the end of the year. This will cause The Great Collapse (my words) likely in our lifetime. Our despicable Congress/Executive branches will try to inflate our way out of it but it is too far gone at this point.

Said another way using a space analogy, if our national federal debt was $1 per mile, that distance would fly by the nearest star Proxima Centauri travelling at the speed of light, 186,000 miles a SECOND. At that speed it would take coincidently about 4.2 years.

You will notice all three branches of the Feds combined with the MSM ignore this.
