Former Marine and congressional candidate William Upham faces a federal charge for allegedly threatening to kill President Trump.
William Lintag Upham, a former Marine officer and qualified congressional write-in candidate, was arrested and charged on July 16 with threatening to kill President Donald Trump.
The charges announced by the Justice Department came after federal agents reviewed social media videos in which Upham allegedly called for the administration’s violent overthrow. Upham, 35, appeared in federal court in Jacksonville, Fla., and a judge ordered him detained. He faces up to five years in federal prison if convicted. He is presumed innocent as prosecutors have filed only a criminal complaint.
Florida election records identify Upham as a qualified Republican write-in candidate for the U.S. House in Florida’s 5th Congressional District. He filed his candidacy April 28 and qualified June 9 for the Nov. 3 general election. He is also a former state prosecutor.
The Secret Service began investigating after receiving two reports July 14 about posts connected to the “uphamforcongress” Instagram account. One report came from an anonymous caller. The other came through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and described a veteran posting videos in uniform, calling Trump the "Antichrist" while discussing weapons and combat tactics.
What the Videos Detail
In one video, Upham appeared in military fatigues as he made a “call to arms.” He urged readers to overthrow the Trump administration, recommended a semiautomatic rifle, and described shooting and movement techniques associated with combat. He framed the appeal in religious terms and claimed God would protect those who acted.

Excellent. At least one person on FR said that his statements don’t rise to the level of a crime. Glad that person is not at DOJ.
Finally, an arrest. I guess it is easier to go after a military guy than a politician. WTH?
Years ago when anybody did or said crazy stuff like that we’d figure he had a brain tumor. Now the crazies are everywhere.
This lunatic is a danger to himself and everyone he comes in contact with. He needs a sanitarium, once he’s done with his prison time.
I worked the segregation unit at Kansas state prison in the late 70s and had an inmate named Chastain (nuttier than squirrel doo) that learned President Jimmy Carter was coming to visit Kansas City. He wrote the president that he was Col. Chastain of the freedom fighters of America and he was going to shoot him if he showed up. 2 days later 2 secret service agents interviewed him for 3 hours and afterward he swore off writing letters and finished his sentence and was taken to FCI Danbury conn. for 3 years.

he is Not Eligible to Practice Law in Florida, my educated guess is something major is keeping him from being Eligible like mental problems.
I see on another web site he was medically discharged. My gut feeling is he was a crazy looney toon.

According to the arrest report, he is presently 5’5”and 170 pounds. It is possible he was discharged for being overweight.
This ahole can go hold hands with Platner.
What was he in seg for? PC, or a management issue?
