The Department of Justice has submitted its first-ever application to the Alien Terrorist Removal Court, a never-before-used court established three decades ago.

The application, filed July 15, was submitted with little public notice. Its contents remain sealed, and an accompanying cover sheet indicates the filing contains classified information.

The court’s chief judge, U.S. District Judge Joan Ericksen, a George W. Bush appointee, held a closed hearing on the matter on Thursday before ordering the Justice Department to submit a revised application.

It’s a collateral duty assigned to a Federal Judge, not a sinecure. The Court was created under the Toon,

Thankfully Judge Boasberg’s term ended last year.

Here you can see the current and past judges. The majority are Biden appointed but that should change to majority being Trump appointed come next year.

Yep. Never heard a single case until now. I wonder what the court’s yearly budget has been?

LOL! It happens. Some days more often than others.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this court hasn’t been used at all in 30 years. It was created BEFORE 9/11 and wasn’t even used after that attack. Crazy!

They have a director, an assistant director and a couple of secretaries, an IT department with at least two technicians, and that means they need HR payroll and risk management also office space with custodians, and of course, the lawyers…. It’s easy to imagine a personnel structure of over a hundred people. People to take the money, people to spend the money, people to report on the money, people to ask for more money.

Twenty years and no work done. It’s a shining example of how government programs can take on lives of their own.

So a judge, probably an associate judge and easily 20 staff members have been being paid for doing nothing for the last 30 years? Where do I get that job!

Wouldn’t it be nice if they were looking at someone such as Mandami? It’d be worth it if they deported him as a terrorist.

I wonder what the court’s yearly budget has been?

A few trebuchets mounted at border sites would have been cheaper.
And more effective.
And entertaining. The pay per view revenue would make them pay for themselves.

Barring outright execution it would be great to have the fictional Phantom Zone Projector that gets rid of the monsters AND shuts up the libs who'd defend them.

PhantomZoneProjector

We had an equivalent at Guantanamo Bay but we can't have nice things anymore.
