President Donald Trump on Wednesday praised the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and disputed reports it would end traffic stops. He said that traffic stops are key to effective enforcement of immigration laws.
"We must be strong, tough, and smart, and we CANNOT give up one of I.C.E.’s most important and effective Crime Fighting tools, THE TRAFFIC STOP! Once we do, we are playing right into the criminal’s hands. The Radical Left Dumocrats would like to see this done, but it won’t happen on my watch," Trump said on Truth Social.
Several outlets on Tuesday reported that ICE would curtail agents stopping vehicles as part of the federal agency's nationwide deportation operation. The change in policy followed two fatal shootings of motorists involving ICE agents in one week.
On Monday, an ICE agent fatally shot a motorist in Biddeford, Maine. The victim is reported to be a 26-year-old Columbian nationalist. But whether he was the intended target of the arrest warrant remained unclear. On July 7, an ICE agent shot 52-year-old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, of Mexico, during a traffic stop in Houston.
In both instances, federal officials allege the victim used his vehicle in a way that put agents' safety and life in danger.

So ICE decided on their own to curtail traffic stops? Or did the press make it up?
It sounds to me like Mullin ordered the curtailment and PDJT reversed him on that. But I could be wrong.

Mullin is a dumbass from Oklahoma.

It looks like a case of Mullin having a bad idea or it was another Fake News fake source report.

Tom Homan said it was a pause to review facts and training procedures. Perhaps that review has been completed.
The only people saying the procedure was ending are the breathless talking heads.
Both Homan and Trump can both be correct. The procedure is not going away. It is just briefly paused.

If illegal, was he working off the record, paying no state or federal income taxes?
Was his car registered?

You are correct. Apparently Mullin curtailed the ICE traffic stops after a phone call with Susan Collins asking or directing him to do so. That’s what Trump just reversed.
The world population is 8.28 billion undocumented Americans.
These deportations had better be sped up now - if Republicans lose Congress at the mid-terms, the Democrats will do everything they can to stymie deportations, even though ICE is fully funded throughout the remainder of Trump’s term.
Yours is the first unkind comment about Mullin that I have seen. Why do you think that?
That’s the way I see it as well… But I appreciate that Trump jumped right in and told them to continue doing traffic stops.
I walked by the television this morning (my wife was watching, I don’t watch television, especially not the news) and in my blue state, that was all they were talking about for about five or 10 minutes. (Every time I walked by, it was still on, so it was obvious to me that they saw this as a huge victory of some kind)
I didn’t like it, but at the same time, my impression was that this was a suspension to placate “public opinion” and they would resume nearly immediately.
I was very glad to see that Trump didn’t want even that impression of backing down. For those out there who think that Trump is not really serious about immigration and that everything he does is simply red meat for the conservative base.(As silly as that sounds, there are people who believe that even on this very forum) this is proof that Trump is indeed very serious about it, and I regard that as a positive thing.
