If you are attending the parade in the Champs-Elyséés, don't forget to wear your QR code - Liberté, égalité, cybersecurité! A pioneering example of the extension of "online safety" to real life.
In hopes of deferring my next trip to Comaland, I am trying hard to comply with my doctors' instructions to eschew the Internet and commune with the birds and flowers. But some news insists on breaking through. I learn from my pal Dan Wootton, for example, that, of three Mark Steyn Show guests, one has been brutally murdered, another subjected to (so far) less fatal political violence, and a third forced to flee the United Kingdom. As I have been writing for many sod-bollocking years:
All that can be said for certain is that, if you live almost anywhere in the western world, violence is in your future.
In the two centuries between the assassination of Prime Minister Spencer Perceval and the killing of Labour MP Jo Cox, six members of the House of Commons were murdered, all by Irish republicans. Since then, what Churchill called "the dreary steeples of Fermanagh and Tyrone" have muted their quarrels somewhat, and yet political violence in a once peaceable kingdom has become more general, to the cheers of the crowd. Ann Widdecombe, Reform UK's migration spokesperson, was the godmother of the daughter of Sir David Amess, a Tory MP stabbed to death, in church, by a "British" Somali five years ago. Not so long ago, to lose both your father and your godmother to bloody murder would have been statistically improbable outside Shetland or Midsomer Murders. Nevertheless, it happened, and in both cases British officialdom chose, consciously, to lie about the reality of what had occurred:
Police say no suggestion of political motive in Widdecombe killing after new arrest

I am in awe of Steyn’s brilliance.
I’m in awe that he’s still alive! What he’s been through...
We are one Democrat victory away from mass executions. Or at least attempted mass executions.
Steyn is brilliant and very well versed in history and politics.
He can sometimes speak so sharply as to not find univeral favor (contrast, say, Victor Davis Hansen who usually speaks along the same well-informed lines ... but more softly...). I personally much prefer the VDH style. But definitely they’re both well worth listening to, imho.
Both of these guys have been through bigtime medical challenges and as they’ve both had successful career they certainly could retire if they wished.
I feel privileged by their continued efforts to inform or awaken people to the real dangers we face today.
Indeed
That’s for sure. He needs prayer!
The sentence following the Olbermann tweets is breathtaking. Imagine Steyn with a saber. Damascene.
