Trump says Strait of Hormuz is open despite Iran’s ship attacks — after US hits 140 targets

President Trump declared Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz is open after the US hit 140 targets in Iran over the latest attack on cargo ships in the critical passage.

Trump doubled down on US Central Command’s insistence that the key oil choke point was now open following an intense bombing campaign against Iran overnight, which targeted missile and drone sites, naval assets, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks, and surveillance locations.

“Yeah, it’s open. We bombed the hell out of them last night,” he told NBC’s “Meet the Press,” contradicting Tehran’s warnings that the strait remains closed.

The president went on to claim that negotiations over the weekend were all but settled, with the Islamic republic supposedly surrendering to all of his demands.

“They agreed to a deal yesterday,” Trump said. “A perfect deal for us. No nuclear, no this, no that, no nothing.

“They gave up everything, and then after that, they left the room, and then within an hour, they launched a drone at a ship,” he added.

A “perfect deal,” indeed.

Why not just go kill all the 12-ers who are behind it all?

Kill them with those drones that have like a giant broadhead that pops out and slices 'em up good?

It’s about perception. If you are the captain of a tanker and you think you might get hit you probably aren’t taking your ship through.

What good is “a perfect deal” if the people you’re talking to don’t have the authority to make that deal?

I doubt very much that Trump has been “duped” by the IRGC.
He WANTS a deal, but he has also said the ceasefire is OVER and the US military has been bombing:
“According to Qeshm Island governor Hossein Amir Teymouri, at least 10 to 11 “enemy projectiles” struck the island on Sunday, reported Tehran’s state-linked IRNA news agency.”
No one wants to kill civilians.
It’s the last option, but it’s on the table.

Mr. President, they are obviously bald-faced liars, with NOTHING they say being trustworthy. Blow them to smithereens.

This is the major problem. Negotiating with the government instead of the military is useless; the military calls all the shots. Not that you can trust any promises they make anyway.

I have heard retired military TV paid contributors on Fox and elsewhere say

1) taking Kharg Island is not a good move militarily for the US and

2) having to escort and battle to protect all the world’s ships going through the Strait is a bad project militarily.

3) Moving in with troops (”boots on the ground” cliche) to help the Iranians take over the government to preserve freedom in Iran is bad militarily.

I’m not at all an “expert” so I wonder about all this.

RE: Qeshm Island...at least 10 to 11 “enemy projectiles” struck the island on Sunday...

Darn it. There goes another of my vacation package plans down the drain. And they won’t allow visits to Kharg Island, either.

Have to transfer plans to Zug Island. In River Rouge in the southernmost section of Detroit. Named after Samuel Zug, one of the founders of the Republican Party and a staunch abolitionist who came to Detroit from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1836 to make his fortune.

Photos from rock group MC5 (”kick out the jams...”) visit.
