A group of seven Senate Democrats, led by Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.), is again demanding unprecedented details and justifications for Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s personnel and chain of command decisions, including promotion lists. The senators are pressing for the specific legal authorities, criteria, and processes used, along with any reasons beyond standard military performance, qualifications, or conduct. They also requested demographic breakdowns of promotions and removals to flag and general officer ranks.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Parnell indicated that the Pentagon will stand by their approach despite Ossoff's attempt at politicizing chain of command decisions.

I can’t believe how far ahead that little prick Ossoff is in the polls.

The problem is that all military promotions to the rank of Major/LCDR and above have to be approved by the Senate. It is actually the same advise and consent clause applicable to judges and other appointees.

That is not a problem, they can either accept it or not, advise and consent does not mean personally decide how the entire process works, it means give advice and then either consent or don’t.

I am tired of the senate acting like advise and consent means they can basically run that part of the executives duties.

I think the Senate has the right to ask for some amount of information given their constitutional role, but this particular request is way too much.

I have some friends/family who were senior/general officers, and they all said the promotion process was heavily politicized during the Obama/Biden eras. Hard DEI push. Unravelling that will look political from the left because it is undoing their politicization.

Yaa, I agree with you on all that. What they did to the officer ranks during the “Abomination” regime hardened me bigly on the senate, they totally abdicated the role of advise and consent, to see them speak up now screams hypocrites and the deserve all the derision that can be heaped on them.

Biden’s SecDef Lloyd Austin in 2021: “Diversity, equity and inclusion is important to this military and it will be important in the future.”

So promotion priorities for O-4, O-5 and O-6s promoted under FJB have changed.

Tough.

Recall how the Biden clowns ruined enlistments. FR was awash with veterans not recommending the military.
