A woman who dated Maine U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner says he forced her to have sex with him nearly five years ago despite her repeated objections, an allegation Platner denies. The woman, a 41-year-old Maine resident named Jenny Racicot, detailed the alleged incident to POLITICO in three interviews over the past two weeks. POLITICO also spoke with a man Racicot dated and confided in the years after the alleged incident, and reviewed documents, including emails between Racicot and her therapist and messages between Racicot and an acquaintance whom she warned against getting involved with Platner years before he ran for office.

No they won’t. The Dems know he’s a dead man walking. Notice the timing. If he is out by 13 July the Dems can replace him. After that he is just removed from the ballot. He will back on his oyster farm in a few days wondering what the hell just happened. Good riddance although this might mean a tougher race for Collins.

One of many stories. Virginia AG candidate Jay Jones was not removed by Spanberger or the Dem bosses. Made social media remarks about saving bullets to shoot into the GOP leaders while their children watched them die.
Many said “He’s done” in some form. 1,804,940 voted for him in the 53.1% victory. He is now Attorney General.

From a very quick google search, I gather that in order for his name to be moved from the ballot and a replacement be named, a candidate needs to withdraw before 5 p.m. on the second Monday of July — a week from today — and a replacement must be named before 5 p.m. on the fourth Monday in July.
The early timelines are driven by the need to get absentee ballots out in time, and that has been accelerated by the spread of early voting which moves all deadlines up.
I don’t know the rules for naming a replacement. The default presumption for a Senate candidate would be that the democrat state committee could step in. The usual case would be when a candidate dies or suffers a major and disabling medical event.
