The plan wasn’t working. Less than a year into President Donald Trump’s second term, his administration’s signature initiative — facilitating the mass deportation of “millions and millions” of immigrants, as he once put it — had become a political liability. A surge of federal agents to Minnesota proved to be the apex of a flashy, combative strategy that tried to steamroll any opposition — and failed.
But now, according to The New York Times, the seeming lull in arrests that followed the winter’s chaos has given way to a renewed effort to round up as many immigrants for deportation as possible — without drawing the same level of attention. The shift shows both the limits that the administration has faced in its deportation spree and its determination to continue apace despite the president’s approval ratings on immigration tanking. Without the same amount of spotlight-seeking from immigration officials, however, the White House hopes to deny opponents the clear targets to organize against that last year’s deportation campaigns provided.

Beyond disgusting. The whole piece is fairly dripping with charged, insulting pejoratives and tropes:
* signature initiative
* mass deportation
* surge of federal agents
* combative strategy
* steamroll any opposition
* winter’s chaos
* round up as many immigrants for deportation as possible
* deportation spree
* determination to continue apace
* spotlight-seeking from immigration officials
Yet, poll after poll shows that Voter ID has the strong support of 70% to 80% of voters including Democrats! Yet, Voter ID is all about making sure illegals do not vote. You could infer from the article that people hate deporting illegals yet do not want them to vote. Which, of course, is not self-consistent.
Whatever works is fine with me. I just want them gone.
Any mention of the “immigrants” being here illegally?

Rounding up illegal aliens is not a war on immigrants.

The only real problem is that a democrat president will reverse all this because the so called republican congress deliberately avoided passing laws to make Trump’s actions permanent.

Which was why Trump replaced Kristi Noem and Gregory Bovino.
Trump was changing his tactics, not his strategy.
Well to be fair, the SCOTUS finally ruled the judges can’t do anything to stop it. So we can finally ramp up deportations.
