Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett authored the majority opinion ruling in favor of a Mississippi law allowing mail-in ballots to be counted even if they are received well after Election Day.
The Court was split 5-4 on the ruling with the turncoat Barrett, appointed by President Donald Trump, joined by Chief Justice John (“No Balls”) Roberts, as well as the usual Marxists in black, Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown-Jackson.
The sane minority, including justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Samuel Alito were almost certainly shocked and appalled by the outcome.
Incredibly, Barett’s opinion apparently acknowledged that federal law does mandate that Election Day is the deadline for voters to make a choice as to their preferred candidate, but that there is no standard for when ballots must be received to be considered valid. When the polls close? One week later? One month? A year? They came up with five business days. Meh. Que sera sera. It’s all good.
(This is like a sporting event where you have 90 minutes to determine a winner, yet goals continue to count for some time after. Oh wait, that’s soccer.)
In his dissent, Justice Samuel Alito stated that Justice Amy Comey Barrett's opinion was clearly inconsistent with the plain text of the laws and of historical practice and precedents, adding that it “risks further undermining Americans' confidence in election integrity."
Ya think?
But SCOTUS rulings are no longer about interpreting the Constitution, legal precedent — or right or wrong — but about advancing a political agenda.

Forget elections. Violent uprisings are coming.
No other country on Earth has endless vote counting.
Amy Coney Barrett is a traitor to the Republic.
She’s just another RINO.
But they must be post-marked no later than election day, correct?
Amy “The Con” Barrett is certainly a disappointment.
This country is in BIG trouble.
Roberts, always there to be the pretend conservative, right up until the lawless anti-Christ Marxist left has need of him.
What a disappointment Barrett is.
Elect and select rhyme for a reason.
“elect...to select by vote”
my dictionary
Barrett makes the same mistake that Thomas made in Chiafolo, that states might exercise their plenary power to change the manner of choosing Electors. Their rulings assume the current method of the people voting, but once another method is enacted this ruling becomes moot. The Supreme Court should not be making mootible rulings.
For instance, supposing the national popular vote compact becomes law and California, Illinois, and New York decide the election before Texas finishes counting late-received mail-in ballots. It doesn't matter when those ballots were cast or arrived because the method of choosing Electors made it moo - a cow's opinion.
SCOTUS should not be making cow's opinions. They're better than that, or used to be.

A Republican variant on DEI. This was, after all, about who McConnell would confirm.
The rule described in the recent SCOTUS decision is that states may count mail ballots that arrive after Election Day if they were postmarked by Election Day; the postmark cutoff, not just late arrival, is the key condition.
One nuance: not every state uses the same deadline language, and some ballots without a clear postmark can be handled under state-specific rules.
In California ( where they’re still counting I think ), when a ballot has no legible postmark or the postmark date can’t be determined; then election officials may use other statutory rules, including the voter’s signed date on the envelope, if it was signed and dated on or before Election Day.
In other words, In California, if the envelope has no postmark, an illegible postmark, or no date stamp, the ballot can still be treated as timely only if the elections office receives it within 7 days after Election Day and the return envelope was signed and dated on or before Election Day.
So if there is no signed date and the postmark is unclear, the ballot generally would not meet that fallback rule and is at serious risk of not counting. In other words, California relies on either a usable mailing-date indicator or a voter-signed date to verify timeliness when the postmark is missing or unreadable
Barrett is turning into a Sandra Day O’Connell.
And, she just voted to uphold Birth Citizenship.
What a disappointment - and a horrible SCOTUS pick for Trump.
She’s OK with vote fraud and birth tourism - allowing millions of Chinese in China who were born via birth tourism to vote in American elections.
But they must be post-marked no later than election day, correct?”
Yeah 5 days after they know exactly how many votes they need. Barret is a traitor. Ugh another wasted opportunity. I do not believe we will ever get another chance to replace 3 SC justices. There were many red flags with Amy but it had to be a woman didn’t it.
In California they’re still counting from 2020.
“But they must be post-marked no later than election day, correct?”
Postmarks might be uniquely numbered to cut down on fraud.
I believe the Russian Ukrainian War is the result of an untrustworthy election in 2014.
The 2000 US presidential election was decided by 537 votes.
Damn, this woman is STUPID.
ACB’s insufferable. We were warned when she was considered for the nomination. Trump & Cocaine Mitch didn’t heed the warnings.
