President Donald Trump on Monday endorsed U.S. Rep. John James, who is running for governor in Michigan.

"It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Congressman, John James, who is running to become the next Governor of the Beautiful State of Michigan!" the president declared in part of a Truth Social post. "John James has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Governor of Michigan — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!"

James thanked Trump, calling him "The greatest President of my lifetime" in social media posts.

I haven't seen any discussions in the Michigan forum for some time so I'm posting it here. This is an important election for the entire country anyway.

The Republicans that probably matter the most:
Mike Cox

John James

Perry Johnson

From the article;
After Trump issued the endorsement message on Monday, Michigan state Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt dropped out of the Michigan Republican gubernatorial primary and endorsed James.

"This campaign has always been about the people of Michigan and standing with President Trump to defeat the Democrats in November. Today, I am suspending my campaign and proudly joining President Trump in endorsing John James as Michigan’s next Governor," Nesbitt declared in social media posts. "A divided primary only helps Democrats. It’s time to unite. I’m asking every one of you who supported this campaign to stand with me behind John James, roll up our sleeves, and deliver a Republican victory in November."

John James and nutso Perry are historic losers. Not a strong endorsement. A Mandami type will be the Dem candidate.

Ok. I live in Michigan. Have heard ads trashing John James which included Donald Trump soundbites ending with “get him outta here.”

What happened?

Note: My favorite conservative radio station owner and talk show host said he was at a campaign for US Senator function with James once (James lost two of them) and noted James kept looking away to the next fundraiser a few years away and pretending to be listening to the person in front of him. He said James was a dud who could be bought off by someone easily. Believes James sways with the political winds.

Trump picked the worst of the 3 choices from our point of view. James is a loser and l will never forget he was one of the 20 who blocked Jordan as speaker. Trump must think the black guy has the best chance. The rat SOS is going to do the same BS as that thieving Bitch Hobbs pulled in AZ.

Trump is against DEI except when he’s not, which is all to often. He seems to lean toward the minority candidate or the skirt unless the white dude is immensely popular.

I’d like to think James has a chance, but Michigan is lost. They have election fraud literally written into law there.

The 2026 Michigan gubernatorial election will take place on November 3, 2026.
Democratic Primary Jocelyn Benson, the current Secretary of State, is the clear frontrunner for the Democratic nomination. She leads other candidates like Chris Swanson and Kevin Hogan by significant margins in polls, with the primary scheduled for August 4, 2026.

My opinion is that Benson was a central character in the vote fraud election of 2020. With her as gov we'll suffer just as we have with Whitmer, probably for another 8 years.

CPUSA/Dem party will “win” with massive voter fraud regardless of GOP candidate.

AGAIN.

Well, I took back my comment because of what I said about the dem candidate. While he is AOC/Mandami type he is running for Senate.

As for James, he lost 2x in statewide elections and as others have said he seems like an empty-suit or something along the lines of your comment. Cox has at least won a statewide election as AG.

She absolutely was and now she gets to be the one who counts the votes in the election she is running in just like bitch Hobbs in AZ in 22.

Love Trump. He should have stayed out of this one. Few love James. It takes a lot to get him to win on the East side of the state.... Perry Johnson has money and is super conservative. And I like James personally and cox is awesome as well. I’d vote for Johnson but...we can’t have Johnson/Cox signs all over the state in November because it could cause shrinkage in cold weather...we need a better running mate name.

Fellow MI Resident.

I became wary on John James after he went on The Wilkow Majority defending his vote for raising the debt ceiling (around Memorial Day 2023). Perry Johnson released a campaign ad firing shots at John James over allegedly voting for a bill that allows for kill switches in domestic cars after 2027. I voted for the man for Senate twice, would’ve voted for his House seat had I been in his district. He’s had two terms in the House, apparently didn’t do much to reduce or curb spending, now he’s seeking higher office. If he advances after the primaries I’ll vote for him, but only with a pinched nose.

Also, Donald Trump endorsed Lindsey Graham. Endorsements mean absolutely nothing to me.

I really like John James; does he just not run a good campaign??? Maybe some successful national GOP election campaign person ought to introduce themself to James, suggest some problem areas and offer to step into an official James campaign role!!!!
