Seattle’s “Pride Match” for the Iran-Egypt game is unofficial and unlicensed. That’s entirely the point.
SEATTLE — FIFA has not endorsed the Seattle host-city committee’s “Pride Match” designation, which will not be part of the official branding when Iran and Egypt meet tonight at Lumen Field.
“I think they’ve always been aware of what we’re doing,” said Louise Chernin, who as chair of the organizing committee’s Pride Match Impact Council began planning for the day nearly a year and a half ago.
Chernin began her match day at Rough & Tumble, a women’s sports bar in Ballard, a historically Scandinavian neighborhood where a crowd had gathered to cheer on Norway against France. The bar was notably free of FIFA’s commercial imprint: The World Cup posters on the walls and the merchandise for sale were all drawn by local artists without any official logos.
It all reflected the extent to which the “Pride Match” has become a gentle challenge not only to FIFA’s record of clamping down on some expressions of LGBTQ+ rights but also the corporate monoculture it creates in host cities through its restrictive sponsorship rules.
“If there’s going to be revenue spent, let us bring it to LGBTQ-owned businesses,” said Chernin, a longtime head of the Greater Seattle Business Association, an LGBTQ+ chamber of commerce.
Just down the street, fans had gathered at a “regnbue” street festival — the word is Danish and Norwegian for “rainbow” — organized by a local Ballard business association. The Norway-France match was being shown on an oversized screen, but when halftime hit attendees did not listen to any of the ads on the Fox broadcast.
Instead DJ SummerSoft took the stage as Sativa the Queen, a local drag performer, vamped through the break.

Pride is code for GAY
Yeah, I guess they figure they can get away with it here; maybe not in certain other countries. I wish it was outlawed here as well. I wonder what would happen if they did some of their “stuff” in one of our more Muslim oriented places like Dearborn, Mich.? That might get real interesting.
For what it is worth.... Gotta hand it to the fags for finally sticking their....finger... in the eye of Islam. Of course they know they are protected but it is a start.
Gay is Code for Sodom
Celebrating Perversion’s Big Day on their anniversary of their major decisions on special rights, sodomy, forced acceptance, and rewriting marriage laws.
What pathetic, sniveling comment.
One can hope that the much abused police might look the other way should some of the crowd express their displeasure in a physical manner.
Yes, I noticed that too. I'm not sure who Louise Chernin is referring to when she uses the word "they've." FIFA, or the countries who's soccer teams compete.
I remember, in some movie I saw long ago, the word "exhibitionist" was used as a code for "homosexual man."
It might have been in No Way To Treat A Lady, which starred Rod Steiger as a serial killer who was also gay. That movie was made in 1968, which was during the brief interval in which homosexuality could be portrayed in film but without the obligatory positive spin.
Although I not that the Wikipedia article on the movie carefully avoids saying Steiger's character is actually gay; rather, it portrays him as a master of disguise, and leaves open the possibility that, even though he appears for one murder to be a flamboyantly gay hairdresser, and for another murder as a transvestite, those could be just disguises.
“...FIFA has not endorsed the Seattle host-city committee’s “Pride Match” designation”
I don’t get that from other sources:
“FIFA designated the June 26th game played in Seattle between Egypt and Iran as a “Pride Match.” Both countries objected.”
So who’s telling the truth and who’s lying?

Fixed it for you
The teams should get together and hang and behead a drag queen effigy at half time. Unity!
Sadly.
As do the rest of us.
They played to a 1-1 draw (“Soccer IS TO exciting,” says the beta boy in response), but I haven’t seen any after-game reports about riots or vandalism by either muzzies or homos.
For you soccer indifferents out there, Canadian football will be on CBS Sports tonight. Calgary vs BC, with the game being played in beautiful Kelowna, on the banks of Lake Okanogan in south-central BC.
Yawn
