Two ceremonial flags were filched from a Northampton Township community flagpole on Wednesday night.
Palmer Township police are searching for the person who stole Juneteenth and LGBTQ Pride flags from a flagpole outside the Easton Area Public Library Palmer branch overnight Wednesday.
Surveillance footage captured an individual lowering the two flags and fleeing the scene.
Police said the thief deliberately concealed their identity.
“This was not just vandalism; it was an attack on our shared civic space. The township condemns this theft in the strongest terms,” it shared in a news release.
The flags had been raised during a ceremony June 18 to commemorate Pride Month and the Juneteenth holiday.
Township Supervisors Joseph Armato and Baron Vanderburg donated the flags.
Township officials said the stolen flags will be replaced.
“We will continue to reflect the diversity and dignity of the people who live here,” police said.

If you go into a store and shop lift them, nothing will happen to you. The female judge will give you a kiss on your forehead and send you on your way. They didn’t exceed the “fair free game” shop lifting limit.
Who made the decision to fly those flags in the first place?
The only question I have on this event:
Did the thief merely want them to display on his own wall because he (or she) agrees with the agenda behind them; or were they taken and destroyed by someone that thinks those sort of flags have no business being displayed by a government entity?
