U.S. strikes targets in Iran after Iranian drone attack on cargo ship, posing challenge to ceasefire

The U.S. military says it hit Iranian targets on Friday over Iran's drone attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first American strikes on Iran since the two countries agreed to extend an already-rickety ceasefire last week.

The strikes targeted Iranian missile and drone storage facilities and radar sites, U.S. Central Command said in a statement posted to social media, calling it a "powerful response" to Iran's "dangerous behavior."

"The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire," CENTCOM said.

U.S. Strikes Iran in Response to Attack on Commercial Vessel

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted strikes against Iran, June 26, as a powerful response to yesterday's attack on a commercial ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites after Iran hit M/V Ever Lovely on June 25 with a one-way attack drone. The Singapore-flagged cargo ship was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast at the time of Iran's attack.
The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire. Furthermore, Iran's dangerous behavior undermined freedom of navigation as commerce increasingly flows through the vital international trade corridor.

CENTCOM forces continue to provide safe passage coordination and support to commercial vessels transiting the strait. The U.S. military remains present and vigilant to ensure all aspects of the agreement with Iran are adhered to, obeyed, and in full force and effect.

To keep the 50 waiting period going while Iran gathers rearmament missiles, should mounted arms and defensive tracking and antiaircraft equipment as the coalition of Arab states and support within the US falls apart by entropy, they will have to ignore every slap in the face from Iran.

What country would send a captain and crew into a WWII sea battle gauntlet in danger now? And what if one luck drone strike blows up a section of a tanker and it explodes and/or sinks in the Strait?

I agree, I think Trump should have been told this from the beginning “Either you want to go to war and do whatever it takes to finish the job, doesnt matter if its 6 weeks 8 weeks, etc, or dont go to war at all”

I voted for Trump 3 times and would do it again if I could. I appreciate all he’s done and what he will do, but I’m feeling like he screwed the pooch on this one. Underestimated Iran, big time. The ONLY proper answer for Iran at this point is to actually wipe them off the earth, but Trump isn’t going to do that. Anything less and we will lose in the end.

War should be rare, but when waged must be waged to insure the complete and unconditional surrender of your enemy. None of us know with certainty what Trump’s motives or strategy is/was against Iran. Yet it looks like opportunity lost.

Heck with George W Bush, he refused to LEAVE..with Trump, he left too quickly. Israel knew that when it hit the 6 week mark, they would be concerned about the day that Trump wakes up and says “I dont want to play anymore Im leaving” with Trump you never know when that will happen but it did

I certainly didn’t know that.

Does your post mean we don’t have to worry about humans on the ships in the Strait?

Ukraine’s reported purchase of 3,550 Rusty Dagger missiles for $825 million represented “a large order at a low price.” At approximately $246,000 per missile, the weapon costs nearly 10 times less than Britain’s Storm Shadow cruise missile.

Forbes also highlighted that air-launched weapons can strike targets much faster than drones. Video footage from the Voronezh attack appeared to show a high-speed vertical dive, with the projectile penetrating the roof of a building before detonating inside.

Perhaps Israel would like some.

The ‘New Math’:

31 refineries + 31 Rusty Daggers = 31 disabled refineries
