BREWSTER COUNTY, Texas (KOSA) - A multi-agency operation in Pecos led to the rescue of seven human trafficking victims and the arrest of 24 people, according to the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the discovery was made during a June 13 search warrant execution at El Ranchito Night Club, an adult entertainment establishment that had been operating out of compliance with a local ordinance.
Authorities said residents began reporting suspected violations as El Ranchito continued operating.
The Reeves County Sheriff’s Office then launched an investigation, which led to a search warrant.
“That’s how we were able to develop our evidence and probable cause and eventually lead up to a search warrant which was executed on El Ranchito Night Club,” said Isaiah Porras, a captain with the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office.
During the search, investigators said they found a small, dark room that was padlocked from the outside and hidden behind metal storage cabinets. After breaching the locks, investigators said they found seven human trafficking victims confined inside the room.
“You train about this, you learn about this, you go to classes this and that, but when you see it face to face. It’s a very different experience,” Porras said. Victims identified as women ages 20 to 40
Porras said the women were given clothes and water, and then taken away from the environment. He said a federal agency took over the victim care afterward.
Investigators said the operation resulted in 24 arrests.
Sixteen people were taken into custody for federal immigration violations, while eight others face state or local charges, according to the script.
Porras said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could follow as investigators continue to gather evidence.
He said federal agents are expected to pursue further charges.

Homeland Security Investigations is leading the human trafficking investigation, while the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office is handling state-level charges.
With all those agencies - How did these perps not get tipped off of the impending raid.
OR
They did get tipped off and left enough in place to sedate the LEOs.
I’m not capping on the LEOs, just that this looks to be small potatoes for human trafficking in Texas.
