‘Standing up to antisemitism is exactly what it takes to achieve a more perfect Union,’ Jones said
San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones expressed her concerned opinions through social media on Saturday about the Alamodome hosting a Ye concert next month.
The Grammy Award winning rapper, Ye — formerly known as Kanye West — has been involved in multiple controversial moments throughout his two decade career.

“I support canceling the Ye concert,” Jones said on X.
Jones also does not like San Antonio hosting Ye on the United States’ birthday, the Fourth of July.
“Military City USA should not host someone with a record of hate speech and antisemitic comments in a city-funded facility like our Alamodome—not ever, and certainly not on July 4th, our Nation’s 250th birthday,” Jones continued on X. “Standing up to antisemitism is exactly what it takes to achieve a more perfect Union.”
Ye was recently barred from entering the United Kingdom where he was scheduled to headline the Wireless Festival in July, after a backlash over Ye’s history of antisemitic remarks, the Associated Press reported in April.

Saying stuff like this is how you end up losing a massive 1A lawsuit the citizenry pays for, if they should follow through with the threat.
I thought Democrats were all antisemitic these days. Somebody’s out of step.
This is probably not a 1A issue but a contract issue. Certainly they knew what Kanye West was all about when they booked him into the Alamodome.
Sure, they could later on unbook him. But then that’s a breach of contract, and West can and should sue.
Agreed.
Like what? She has a right also to express her objection. Keep in mind the West has no “right” to perform. Cancelling his performance would be a matter of the terms under the contract the parties signed.
Ortiz-Jones is f’n communist who was elected by her tribe not for anything she has done for the community. She has something else in mind ...
You are correct.
If the slurs were in Spanish she would have no problem.
And um….didn’t the American side win at the Alamo?
Uh No
I hope you weren’t serious
Well, it was a ‘strategic defeat’ to my way of thinking.
San Jacinto was the backlash battle where the Mexican side supposedly screamed “no me alamo” as they were pursued.
But yes, the vicious Sr. Santa Anna did in fact defeat the Americans at the Alamo. But that lost him the war.
What is a Ye?
“If the slurs were in Spanish she would have no problem.”
Except she is not Hispanic or Latina (she’s Ilocano-Filipino).
The history books tell otherwise.
“the American side win at the Alamo?”
No your lack of history is sad.
Mexico won at the Alamo it was a massacre. There were many Tejanos and Texians who died at the Alamo their names are on the honored list not just Anglos from Tennessee and the other states. Many Spanish coloniala fought against the tyrant Santa Anna for Texas independence. The USA would not annex Texas until 1845 nearly a decade after Texas won independence at San Jacinto defeating Santa Anna after he was napping with a whorew (honey pot trap) the yellow rose of Texas. Literally caught with his pants down.
So no the Americans didn’t win the Texians and Tejanos got killed at the Alamo and Goliad too. Also know the difference from Texian, Tejano , and Texan they are distinctly different peoples who all have a part in Texas independence.
Her last name being Ortiz tells us there’s a Spaniard in the woodpile!
And no Mexican in SA would ever vote for her if they didn’t think she was one of them.
Great summation about Texas independence. 🇨🇱
As explained in post 10 Xkid, I see it in a different way.
As for your woke definition of Texans, I guess that’s a function of your age.
Maybe you didn’t see Giant.
Everyone knows about Seguin, although before about 1970, he was really an obscure person mainly known to Texans. His role in the revolution was promoted after that to give gringos the impression that Tejanos were really on our side, and guys like Corky Gonzalez were just Tru Blue ‘Mericans looking for some Civil Rights! Instead of the Mexican Supremacy they drool about.
But the reality is that Texas, like California, was a creation of the Americans. If the Centralists had won the war, it would be the same quaint, backward, corrupt wasteland that is Mexico now.
People who don’t like “Ye”, are free to not go to his concert. They can stand outside and protest like all activists RATs do.
Cancelling it is only going to increase people who stick up for him.
I would not go to a Ye concert, but that is just my choice.
Keyword is “choice”.
That is true. But cancelling him would be doing a great favor to music lovers everywhere.
