GOP bullish on political impact for Republicans of Trump MOU with Iran
The Hill ^ | June 20th, 2026 | by Julia Manchester

Republicans are largely skeptical that President Trump’s deal with Iran will deliver a geopolitical win, but they are bullish about its impact on the midterms, with gas prices already dropping.

One national Republican operative described feeling “relief” after the agreement, pointing to positive reactions from markets.

Oil prices have fallen to their lowest point since the war began at the end of February following the announcement of the memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran this week. Brent Crude, the international oil benchmark, sat at $79.53 per barrel on Thursday, while West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark, was at $76.55.

Americans will not vote for the party that surrendered to Iran no matter what the price of gas is.

That is true. And, it is the mantra of all commie trash supporters of clowns like Murphy — who insists that Iran is more powerful since they lost most of their military.

Everyone needs to go talk to someone in big business. MOU’s are NOT agreements. They are temporary boundary docs — i.e., they spell out rules of behavior while negotiations are ongoing. E.g., You do that and I’ll do this.
I’ve done MOU’s and no one treats them as the final step.

Of course, if yah don’t sign the MOU or if you break a key part of it, bombing can startup again.

The short-term economic sugar high risks masking deeper strategic erosion. I’m in the wait and see corner, but draw the Israel / Hezbolla line and think the administration’ pivot to scapegoating Israel and using it as a punching bag is beyond.

I’ve expected the Republicans to lose control of both houses of Congress the month Trump took office.

Republicans have done next to nothing to demonstrate to American voters that they deserve reelections except for:
1. Trump’s removal of criminal aliens and aliens found among them
2. Trump’s securing of the border
3. Trump’s improving of the military
4. Trump’s lowering of gas prices.

The last has been cancelled out by Trump’s premature ceasefire and truly awful MOU.

The Republican Congress has failed to help Trump, and a heavy price will be paid come November 2026.

The paid work of expensive consultants cannot be expected to overcome a failure to do the jobs that needed to get done.

If one 80-year-old man works harder than several hundred Republican members of Congress, those members can expect tough elections and early retirements.

Does the contentious MOU make Iran “more powerful” since
Israel pitched the plan to Trump to decimate Iran’s military?

“bombing can startup again”

As I understand things, the War Powers Resolution pretty much prohibits bombing except as might be required under the US international law obligation to protect merchant ships.

Trump failed to ask Congress for legislation to stop the WPR 60-day clock during ceasefires.

“Wait until a glut of oil hits world markets.”

If you were a tanker owner, would you send a $100 million tanker into the Gulf (other than to pick up Iranian oil)?

There are Iranians with missiles that they can claim to their superiors as having been already fired off.

Those Iranians can make extortion attempts payable in Bitcoin.

The tanker owners would have to buy commercial insurance if their ships are financially obligated to a lender. This commercial insurance might not be offered up for Gulf transits.

They get $300 billion -> world-class industrial base -> world-class military

They don’t get $300 billion -> get lost, welching fools, we’ll be keeping every gram of enriched uranium and building new enrichment facilities

The regime might have wobbled a bit, but it didn’t collapse. Killing most of the top tier leadership wasn’t enough. The January massacre cowed the population. There’s little chance of the overthrowing the Islamonazi regime prior to the midterm elections.

Trump took out their ability to enrich uranium. He destroyed most of their military capabilities. I think he believes that this is as good as it’s going to get prior to the midterms.

Of course the Dems are evil and insane. They’ll still blather about “a war of choice” that left Iran stronger than ever. Any lie is good enough for them. They can count on a fake news mafia to server as their echo chamber.

The national price of gasoline on Trump’s second inauguration day -

The national price of gasoline on the day before this flyer was printed - [higher]

This message paid for by the Democratic National Committee....

Trump did what was necessary to get through the mid-terms. He needs to keep control of the Senate to get his judicial nominations approved. He can deal with Iran again after November.

Hopefully the Arab oil companies will build the necessary pipelines that by-pass the Strait of Hormuz while the lull in fighting exists

Relax. Oil executives told Trump that America would run short of oil by late June or early July. While America was more than capable of taking care of domestic needs , the whole World was lining up to buy oil at 100$ a barrel. He had to get the oil flowing again or the whole World was going to feel the pinch. Once America refreshes its own supply it's game on once again

Change the subject, change the issues discussed.
This Straits of Hormuz escapade was expensive. Our war fighting supplies have been depleted. That will be the topic unless the media finds some other topic.

Cutting FRAUD WASTE ABUSE is something that everyone, including Democrat voters, is inherently for.

That does not mean accommodating protestors who seek suicide.
Focu on WASTE FRAUD ABUSE.
