U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has told ASML that Washington is concerned that one of its top chipmaking machines may have found its way to China in violation of U.S.-led export restrictions, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday.
Lutnick expressed the concerns over ASML’s extreme ultraviolet lithography, or EUV machines, to senior leaders of the Dutch firm in a series of meetings, the report.
ASML's most advanced EUV systems are roughly the size of a school bus and weigh 180 tons.
The U.S. Commerce Department and the White House were not immediately available for comment outside business hours when contacted by Reuters.
In April, Washington proposed a law requiring U.S. allies to align with its export controls to curb China’s ability to make advanced semiconductors, with equipment made by ASML named in the legislation.

Only one?
Do they know the company sold it to them?
Seems like it is hard to lose one of those
Where money is involved, few things remain ethical or moral.
“MAY be in China”. Doesn’t mean it is, and this is from MSN. They and most other crackpot propaganda medias have to be verified for truth since a good portion is not or just hype.
Only need one to copy it.
ASML’s machines are huge and very delicate; extreme care must be taken in moving them and they generally cost in the hundreds of millions of dollars each. Any number of “friendly” countries could have industrial giants that may have obtained and “passed along” one to the chicoms. I wouldn’t put it past the Biden Crime family to have turned a blind eye in exchange for $$$; it’s their MO.
Just out wandering around, no doubt.
"It followed me home. Can I keep it?"
They copied our stealth tech (albeit not at the same small level, but still overall copied it).
If it’s in Taiwan, it might as well be in China.
Getting to it is one thing.
Getting it to work is quite another.
The Chinese imitate, but rarely innovate. They may be able to make a smaller resolution chip, but I can guarantee you reliability and quality will take a hit. With rampant corruption, fear of punishment and an almost cultural imperative to cut corners the product will be crap.

Yes, so let’s import 600,000 more Chinese “students” to help steal American technology:
“President Donald Trump announced a policy reversal to allow up to 600,000 Chinese students to enroll in U.S. universities.”
