Report: GOP Senators ‘Pile-On’ Mike Lee for Pushing for Passage of SAVE America Act
BREITBART ^ | 6/17/2026 | Elizabeth Weibel

Republican senators reportedly criticized Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) for pushing for the Senate to pass the SAVE America Act, with Republican senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and John Kennedy (R-LA) challenging “his strategy.”

In a post on X, Andrew Desiderio, a senior congressional reporter for Punchbowl News, shared that one source described the criticism of Lee’s push to pass the SAVE America Act as a “pile-on.” Desiderio also reported that Cornyn and Kennedy “complained” that President Donald Trump is “being led to believe it’s possible” to pass the SAVE America Act in the Senate.

“GOP senators went after Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) during the closed-door lunch meeting today over his push for the SAVE America Act, in what one source described as a ‘pile-on,'” Desiderio wrote.

Desiderio’s post continued: “Sens. Cornyn & Kennedy challenged Lee about his strategy and complained that Trump is being led to believe it’s possible for the Senate to pass it leading to Republicans attacking each other & Trump undermining his own agenda.”

In a post on X, Rachel Bovard, who serves as the vice president for the Conservative Partnership Institute, criticized the senators for using the “conference lunch to go after the one guy asking them” to pass the SAVE America Act.

“Using the conference lunch to go after the one guy asking them to please do something the country cares about, for a change, and then smugly leaking their outright contempt for the GOP base — and for the president! — to the campus regime scribes,” Bovard wrote.

Breitbart News reported that Cornyn had previously “shut down a proposal to force” the Senate to vote on the SAVE America Act.

GOP senators major in whining and going out on recesses, slackards of the first degree.

I am so happy Cornball is out. He needs to just be quiet for 6 months and work on getting his grifting private sector job lined up...

I’m surprised Kennedy is siding with Cornyn. Cornyn needs to be ignored. He’s a lame duck anyway.

Does the save America act require 50 votes or 60 votes in the senate?

It sounds like Senator Lee has the answer, and it’s not without precedent.

Imagine a filibuster where you have to show-up and talk. Isn’t that what filibuster means? As I understand it, we have a silent filibuster as in, “I promise I would show up and talk if I had to. Only don’t hold me to my promise, because I don’t mean it.”

While Cornyn is an obvious snake, Kennedy is a snake in the grass who does a fantastic job at “conservative theater.”

Kennedy SOUNDS conservative with his witty “aw shucks” quotes, but he has been blocking the SAVE America Act on behalf of the far-left Deep State.

“””Does the save America act require 50 votes or 60 votes in the senate?”””

51 votes to pass the Save Act.

Cloture takes 60 votes.

Me Too!!! Especially after his fellow Senator Cassidy just got soundly beaten in the Louisiana Primary.

Maybe Kennedy is likewise on his way out and this is the last time he will run.

And we don’t have to ‘imagine’ what a filibuster would look like.

When the Senate was debating the SAVE ACT each day in March 2026, the Democrats were being clobbered in the COURT OF PUBLIC OPINION.

So Thune says his Democrat Comrades by sending everybody on an Easter vacation.

And when they return, Thune does not restart the SAVE ACT debate.

Yeah, Heaven forbid they do anything that the people want.

It is all about preservation of the elite GOP party. You can see that Thune acts the very same as McConnell. They can’t pass a bill like this because they also stack the deck to stay in control of the senate GOP.

They are a cancer on the future for the people.

Mike Lee is a fairly good one. Most are sold out for globalists and deep state.

That means that the actual reason the save America can’t pass is because the thune republicans will vote against because they don’t need democrats votes to pass the bill. Corrrect?

Don’t be. Ignore all of Kennedy’s down home homilies and watch his actions, they’re vastly different. He’s like his seat mate, soon departed Cassidy, who feeds at the deep state trough. Damn shame.

One thing is certain, the Save Act battle is pulling all the masks off and the ProForma schemers care less who lears about their intentions. The senate criminals consider the voters to be short memory morons who’ll forget about how beholden they are to the deep state perfumed priests when election time comes around.

It’s disgusting. Every single senate incumbent needs for the voters to find something else for them to do, far, far away from D.C.

So true. I like the old saying: “What is the difference between US Senators and Hollywood Actors?”

The Actors are better looking.

The primary purpose of the GOP Senate leadership is to keep conservatives locked out of power and to prevent our initiatives from passing. They don’t call them Assistant Democrats for nothing.
