US embassy calls on far-right minister to provide his fingerprints, after which he reportedly decides to ditch travel plan.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has canceled an upcoming trip to the United States after he was required by the US embassy to arrive in person and provide his fingerprints as a condition for receiving a visa, Hebrew media outlets reported Monday.
The far-right Ben Gvir has repeatedly made headlines with provocative antics, some of which have drawn international condemnation.
The unusual move of requiring his fingerprints was apparently due to his criminal convictions. It signaled that Washington was not keen on giving him a visa, according to Channel 13, which first reported the incident.
Though Ben Gvir did arrive at the embassy to provide his fingerprints and was interviewed there by officials, he ultimately decided to cancel the entire trip, reportedly telling his associates that he was worried the visa would not arrive in time for his flight.

apparently our administration in WashDC includes some people who are selling America out to the dangerous Teheran regime. they seem to be flipping USA on its back (deliberately), imho we must see to it that they are retired, removed from the taxpayers’ burden, ASAP

Naftali Bennett says he won’t include Ben Gvir in any future government

Bennett is not reliable on defense and won’t become Prime Minister absent serious election interference from abroad (not a new phenomenon, alas).
we will see
Condo battles Netanyahu LOTS more than she has ever battled liberalism.
Meh...making it harder for convicted criminals to enter the United States is a good idea, whether its Tren De Aqua or members of the Israeli government.
Prime Minister Bibi will be retiring pretty soon anyway, when he’s wiped out Hezballah and Hamas (the IAF will continue patrolling the skies over Iran to make sure they don’t import any nukes or ICBM’s etcetera)
The next PM of Israel will almost certainly be far stronger on defense imho. The western leftist press likes to report a lot making the leftist Israeli politicians look good but imho they’ve no chance of getting into the Prime Minster Office after what Israel has been put through these past 3 years
even leftist Israelis in Tel Aviv realize now that a leftist government would be a disaster for the nation.
advocating leftist social causes is one thing (and Bibi’s government has maintained most of those programs anyway), but Israel simply cannot afford to be weak on defense anymore
And Eisenkot?

Ben-Gvir is a “settler” in the Israeli-occupied West Bank; according to the BBC.
Um no.
Yes, the MOU is kabkuki theatre, bit its need to prevent the Demcrats (you know party that has actually been trying to help Iran get the bomb since 2008) from winning this fall.
IIf this is such a great deal for Iran, then why is Obama throwing a hissy fit about it ?
I do believe the terms of negotiations in the SOW are roughly until years end.
I hang out with a bunch of young Israelis in the IDF. Even the gay ones are functionally conservative, especially on defense.
Historically, some of their leaders lean left.
It wasn't until the talks broke down at 2000 Camp David Summit that Israel finally started to lean right.
we could get 95% of our president’s stated goals accomplished there in just a couple days by our great USAF
THEN he could declare at least a temporary legitimate VICTORY which would help in the midterms a whole lot.... USA hasn’t had anything that even resembles a significant victory since WW2 and it would attract millions of votes
he could continue “negotiating” afterwards and... assuming he gets something sale-able ....he could declare a second victory.........tho imho anything Teheran signs isn’t worth the papayrus it is scribbled on
“...making it harder for convicted criminals to enter the United States is a good idea,”
“Ben Gvir has several past convictions, including disturbing the peace, incitement to racism, and supporting a terror group.”
Sounds like he was “guilty” like Trump was “guilty”..
yes. there was a strong leftist tilt in Israeli politics in the earlier years, indeed the Soviet Union was quick to recognize the new Israeli government (and sent defense supplies when USA wouldn’t, via its Czechoslovakian SSR factories). Because of the leftist tilt among that earlier generation of Israelis. But time matures people (or at least many people)....and the (voluntary, unlike in the Soviet Union) collective farms in Israel almost all moved towards partial or total private property principles.
It's fun to stay at the YMCA.
Ben-Gvir is a thug who doesn’t belong in any government.
That said, this war is definitely ending badly for Israel. It’s reminiscent of the Anglo-French-Israeli Suez War that Eisenhower scuttled, only this war was far beyond that in its economic scale. And in this case, it’s the US itself that abandoned the field of battle.
No comparison whatsoever. For starters, Gvir's 13 criminal convictions took place over a 20 year period and some include support for terror groups.
He's a repeat offender.
So abandoning a fight which in addition to American lives has cost tens of billions of dollars....it’s cool to walk away because of the midterms.
Political reality is not to be ignored, but maybe those calculations should have been made BEFORE we embarked upon war.
You’re not just Obama and the Dems taking shots at this adnomination of a “deal.”
