I can only think of one group with the motivation.
And that whole “foreign or domestic” thing also comes to mind.
This apparently was a very well planned attack that was to use explosive-laden drones to hit buildings near the event, force a mass evacuation and steer crowds toward a pre-staged sniper team. Then there was a second stage to storm the White House.
The plot was similar to a Hollywood movie. The whole problem was operational security where the idiots used an app called Signal to discuss their plans. What they failed to realize is that any and all digital communications are subject to monitoring, no matter how well the idiots think their conversations are encrypted.

“package” delivery drones have been available for consumer sale for years now.
I have a neighbor who owns one with a range well out of line of sight (an FAA requirement) who flies over my property twice a day as he makes his “rounds.” It’s got thermal/NV as well as a release hook. His cost upwards of $6,000 but there are cheaper ones out there.
I’m surprised these haven’t been used for such an attack already.
Makes me want one of those carbine-style EMP guns I’ve seen in the police and military journals.
We have a plant here that has one of those $10k drones. It was called out this weekend looking for a gunshot victim off the Appalachian Trail.

It wasn’t just Trump they were after. It’s reported they were going lead people to a kill zone with snipers at the ready. They wanted to kill “capitalist elites”, politicians who supported Israel. Diabolical.
As the world is told of deal with Iran, this sneaks under the radar.
