California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that the Department of Justice is investigating him, claiming that President Donald Trump is targeting a “political enemy” despite no evidence the Democratic potential 2028 presidential contender has committed a crime.
Newsom said in a video posted to social media that Trump’s administration is also targeting his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

If they are investigating Newsome it would be several possibilities:
1. Payoffs. Especially payoff from out of country entities.
2. Election misconduct, especially paying for or allowing fraud or access to signatures/names, or using state money to pay for ‘registration and incentivized voting’.
3. Illegal diversions of ‘State of California’ Funds or Federal funds to partisan programs.
None of these is particularly political IMHO.
