President Donald Trump announced Saturday that the United States has reached a peace deal with Iran, and the contrast with what Barack Obama handed the world in 2015 could not be starker. "The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete," Trump posted on Truth Social Sunday. "Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!" The naval blockade on Iranian ports has already lifted. The Strait of Hormuz is open. And for the first time in a long time, there's an actual framework that puts nuclear weapons permanently off the table.
Results are happening. Oil prices have dropped, and the market is up.
The deal, currently structured as a Memorandum of Understanding, extends a ceasefire for 60 days while both sides work toward a comprehensive permanent agreement. A formal signing ceremony is set for June 19 in Switzerland. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi confirmed from Tehran that a halt to military operations, including in Lebanon, took effect Sunday. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also confirmed the agreement, saying it followed "intensive talks."
Now let's talk about why this matters, because the media is going to spend the next week trying to muddy the waters. But make no mistake about it: this is clearly a better deal than Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). That was the official name of the deal that the left told us was a historic diplomatic achievement. Under that agreement, Iran kept its advanced centrifuges and retained the right to keep enriching uranium.
Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst broke down exactly why that was so dangerous. “During the Obama administration, it allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium,” Yingst explained. The enrichment process takes uranium ore through a series of chemical conversions until it becomes hexafluoride gas,

This needs to be emphasized:
This agreement does not allow the Iranians, according to this senior administration official, to keep any of their enriched material.
Also, Trump’s framework assumes Iran will seek opportunities to cheat and ties any rewards to verified compliance. And, of course, there will be consequences for violations.
The huge number of indoctrinated people who consume the MSM, or get their information from Facebook and The Daily Show, will be convinced Trump’s deal is worse.
Not worse. Just no better.
What WILL make it worse is if $12 billion is repatriated to Iran.
“Not worse. Just no better.”
I’m no expert on this kind of deal, but I do observe that Obama quietly sent them pallets of cash, while Trump sent them pallets of missiles and bombs that destroyed lots of military targets as well as the first two levels of their leadership.
From where I sit, I like Trump’s deal better.
Well we haven’t seen the terms of the new deal yet. We’re just going by what people in power have said is in the deal.
Including some FReepers; see above.
Non-trolls should consider their opinions when they coincide with Obama, NYT, and Washington Post.
They have to sign the deal and then we get to see what’s in it.
I can easily see Trump saying he’s going to make this deal so that the Strait of Hormuz opens back up.
Knowing that the Iranians are probably lying.
And when it’s proven that they are lying we handle it.
“Non-trolls should consider their opinions when they coincide with Obama, NYT, and Washington Post.”
Probably still butt hurt over Massie getting canned.
If we do not already have the stockpile before opening things up, we will never have it.
So, let’s be clear - short of boots going on the ground - this is the regime we’re working with.
This $12B belongs to Iran, like it or not. It is money paid for Iranian oil. It is locked up and out of their control.
You expect Iran to agree to a deal but we get to keep all of Iran’s money. You think that’s rational?
The deal is so good that, for your own good, Trump isn’t sharing the document he signed with the American people.
Carrots and sticks. That’s how you work with low-life morons. It can’t be only sticks.
Obama allowed Iran to keep their centrifuges, that is something that is NOT in this deal as far as they are saying. I think we have to wait and see what happens, enough of this “Reports say” and other BS like that, how about waiting for EVERYONE to get the actual DEAL in writing before anyone runs their trap about it. I am going to give Trump and his Administration the benefit of the doubt. If the deal is great(And for me great means Iran cannot EVER have a nuke, EVER, no uranium NO centrifuges, nothing like that. Now can Iran have a military, absolutely, as despicable as they are they are allowed to defend themselves militarily, they just cant be trusted with any nuclear material. So let’s just see what happens, not “I heard it from a source” or “Reports say” lets hear the final thing when it comes down and go from there
I listened to the Vince podcast this morning, and he shared that he had been allowed to participate in impress meeting that was given to high-end people in the media… not the Talking Heads you see on TV, dose above them.
I assume this was ostensibly to get the correct story out before the low Information people who want to see Trump fail (like some we see on this thread who who are of the same ilk) tell their lies and do their best to get that lie halfway around the world before the truth can get its pants on.
They gave the participants very concrete and specific information about what was and was not included in the proposed framework.
From what I understand it takes months to dig up the uranium using special equipment that only the US and China have, its not something you can just go grab in a day and stick it in your backpack
I don’t think anyone outside of the White House or Teheran even knows yet exactly what “the deal” is.
Same here.
And Cornyn and Tillis...
