“The pitchfork was erected into the air, anchored into his head,” police said.
A Fall River man is facing murder charges in connection with the deaths of two men Wednesday night, after victims were fatally beaten with cobblestones and one was found with a pitchfork impaled in the back of his head, authorities said.
Vitor Francisco Gomes, 28, is charged with two counts of murder for the double homicide, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn announced in a press release.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to 90 Aetna St. in Fall River after receiving reports of three shots fired. When officers arrived, they encountered an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk between 90 and 104 Aetna St., according to Quinn.
The man was not breathing, was covered in blood, and had suffered “apparent blunt force trauma to his face,” according to a Fall River police incident report filed in court.
Police also noted finding a stone on the sidewalk about 20 feet away from the victim’s body.
Officers then discovered a second man lying on the ground near the corner of 99 Aetna St. He had a “pool of blood” beneath his arms and head and a metal pitchfork impaled into the back of his head, according to the report.

Immigration status?
Arrived under whom?
The two men — identified as 20-year-old Pablo Henrique Rocha-Dasilva, of Whitman, and 19-year-old Eduardo Cardoso da Silva, of Fall River — were pronounced dead at the scene, Quinn said.
Police interviewed a witness, who told authorities they had been invited to an “informal boxing match” near 99 Aetna St., according to the report.
During the match, Cardoso da Silva knocked Gomes out. While Gomes wanted to continue the fight, Cardoso da Silva wanted to stop, the witness said.
The witness told police that Cardoso da Silva then picked up a shovel, which Gomes attempted to grab...
I don’t know about you... But I am rarely invited to an ‘informal boxing match’.
Keep searching the grounds of the crime scene, and you will probably notice a few dozen crushed cans of Mexican Beer.
Tecate and Modelo are popular in my area, among the ‘new arrivals’.
I’ve seen some Mexican men, not much taller that 5 feet, faces hidden by a big Cowboy Hat, staggering up the apartment building stairs with a 24 pack of Modelo somehow balanced on one shoulder.
Is Boston a sanctuary city?
A Fall River man. Family probably goes back to the Mayflower.

“The Fall River man”

Ummm. Ok
Have they ruled out suicide?
They should probably change the first rule to No Pitchforks Allowed and move not talking about it to 2 or 3.
Dang, my Auntie was from Fall River :-(
I don't know about these days, but a number years ago school "fight clubs" were popular. These weren't hate inspired fights, just kids that wanted to go up against each other as a challenge usually in city parks near a school. Of course word would get out around the school beforehand and a bunch of kids would show up to watch the fight. Having pitchforks around wasn't usually part of it.
that’s a potato fork but similar.
you don’t talk about fight club or else.
Actually she pronounced it Faaalh Rivaaaah ;-)
or Nina, Pinta and the Santa maria. way back
A lot of Portuguese and Cape Verdians in Fall River and New Bedford.
One thing I would not associate with Fall River, Massachusetts: A pitch fork. Fall River is quite a distance from the closest farm.
Also in America we do not have coblesones in most old town, more likely pavers. Coblestones are round granite stones, Pavers a rectangle granite stones more suitable for sidewalks and roads.
Defintally Portugese boys. In this case, being Fall River, they may be 2nd or 3rd generation.
Pitchfork v. shovel
Him...pointy tines v. broad shield with honed edges.
One aggressive thrust matched by a denfenesive parry and then all bets are off.
