How migrants use Ireland as backdoor into UK
The Telegraph ^ | June 10, 2026 | Charles Hymas

The Sudanese suspect in the Belfast knife attack used a backdoor route into Britain popular with migrants seeking to sneak into the country.

The Telegraph revealed last year how people smugglers were exploiting the soft border between Britain and Ireland to bring illegal migrants into the UK.

Albanian gangs were charging £4,000 to traffic the migrants to Britain through the "backdoor" provided by the Common Travel Area (CTA) between Ireland and Britain.

The CTA is a long-standing open borders zone comprising the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands. Established in the 1920s, it allows British and Irish citizens to move freely and reside in either country without the need for visas.

In reality, it means that the UK border is effectively extended to Ireland's borders because once a migrant has managed to get into Ireland, there are no routine immigration border checks on local flights, buses or ferries within the CTA to stop them travelling into Britain.

They are still legally required to hold valid permission or visas to enter the UK, but because there is no hard border, they are likely only to be picked up through intelligence or on-the-spot passport checks carried out by law enforcement as part of Home Office CTA counter-immigration operations.

Of course - Ireland, to Northern Ireland, to the U.K.

A third grade school kid could see it, but Irish and U.K. officials just stuck their heads in the sand, and, for some, maybe on purpose.

Why would they need to? It’s so easy anyway.

“they are likely only to be picked up through intelligence or on-the-spot passport checks carried out by law enforcement as part of Home Office CTA counter-immigration operations.”

or if they present themselves to the authorities to claim asylum like this guy did. The UK Home Office granted him “leave to remain” in September 2023. In September 2023 the Home Secretary was Suella Braverman who is now a leading member of Reform UK.

With all the praise heaped on immigrants by the leaders of Britain and Ireland, why worry about backdoor methods of entering to grab goodies?

President Catherine Connolly “urged the global Irish community to extend hospitality to those fleeing violence and displacement”.

Except the latest perp brought violence to Ireland despite the problems of the country he decided to leave.

They’re also very busy trying to get Genocide 2.0 against the Jews in Israel to notice what IDIOTS they are.

“In September 2023 the Home Secretary was Suella Braverman who is now a leading member of Reform UK.”

I wouldn’t sell her short - she seemed to be the only REALIST in their so-called “Conservative” party...and she was quickly driven out of her job.
