The Brief
A judge who approved a search warrant that led to the arrest of a Henderson County resident over a Facebook post concerning Trinidad's water supply says he was misled by the Trinidad Police Department.
Judge R. Scott McKee sent a letter to outgoing Trinidad Police Chief Charles Gregory that questions "the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of information presented" by his officers when he approved the warrant.
The woman arrested has since filed a lawsuit against the city after her charges were dropped, while the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is investigating the city's water supply.

Police lied to get a search warrant? I’m shocked, shocked!
Every warrant I ever applied for in DC began with a sworn affidavit. You had to raise your right hand and take an oath. A perjury charge was the penalty for lying.
And a judge takes something like this at face value. More shock.
Looks to me like the judge has switched from “abusing freedom of speech” mode to “cover my butt” mode.
And these moron judges do whatever the police tell them to? WTF?
Has the judge held them in contempt? If not he’s complicit.
This is a lot more serious than contempt.
Oh I agree, but that will take prosecution to get a full conviction.
But a judge can put them in jail immediately for contempt...no questions asked kind of...just right to jail.
In Texas, the punishment for this type of contempt of court is 6 months incarceration and a $500 fine.
I’ll take it! Police don’t do very well in jail. Meanwhile they can be charged for other crimes by the federal gov’t like depravation of rights and other stuff. Then they can go to club fed after local jail.
They should make those that are covering up the dirty water in Trindad drink 3 glasses of the dirty water every day in court until the problem is fixed.
The cops lied? 😮
