A warehouse manager who was inside the Burnstein Von Seelen facility when federal agents conducted an immigration raid said workers screamed and tried to hide as dozens of agents moved through the plant with guns drawn.

Randy Linsenbigler, a warehouse manager who has worked at Burnstein Von Seelen in Abbeville for nearly 30 years, said he had no idea what was coming Wednesday morning.

“I didn’t know what was going on. I heard people screaming. Then I saw some girls coming running towards me like four or five of them and I’m like what is going on. So I walked into the machine shop and there’s 50-60 agents in there with guns drawn and tactical formation coming down through there,” Linsenbigler said.

ICE detained 48 workers for alleged immigration violations and arrested two managers as part of Operation Ghost Story. The two managers now face multiple charges, including identity fraud to obtain employment. Linsenbigler is not one of the two managers who were charged.

Linsenbigler said many workers are too scared to come back after Operation Ghost Story, and the production floor has turned into a ghost town.

“It’s dead. It’s dead. We went from having 100 employees to we might have had 24 working there today,” Linsenbigler said. “It’s sad. It could have been done in a way more humane way.”

So 3/4 of the workers were illegal. Good job ICE!

Yakkity Saks is the wrong musical choice here. Suggest Mexican Hat Dance but sped up a little.

The solution to all this fear and chaos is simple:

DON’T HIRE ILLEGALS IN THE FIRST PLACE!

“It’s sad. It could have been done in a way more humane way.”

But they chose to break the law, so we do it this way.

It’s about time they started arresting people that hire them.

Companies like these who knowingly hire illegals should be criminally charged.

Shut them down.

I was walking my Shiba Inu one morning in North Myrtle Beach passing people waiting for a school bus and overheard a kid asking his father if it was a “lobo”. I responded “Es lobito”. Cute moment but they gotta go.

Maybe one of those up-tempo Tijuana Brass numbers.

If only there was some way to prevent becoming a “ghost town” following any immigration enforcement. What can a company do? I’m stumped.

Umm, maybe make sure that you hire legal workers so if there is a raid your workforce isn’t taken away.

What a silly idea! Do you know how much money it costs the company to hire legal workers!?!?!

Oh then I guess SOL to you.

Not only that there was nothing inhumane about the tactics used by ICE. ICE agents do not know who they will be facing and considering the high number of dangerous criminal aliens letting the workers see the agents are armed is just good sense. IMHO.

Yes a much more humane way would be never to hire them.

The whole ice thing is a total joke almost. If the Trump administration was really serious, they start issuing out fines for $1 million for every illegal working for the company. That would shut it down in about a hot minute and send these people packing for Home, which tells me the Trump administration really isn’t serious about cracking down.

A free trip home seems fairly humane to me. If a US citizen violated labor law and evaded taxes or used a fake identity what consequences would the citizen face?
