The madman accused of slaughtering Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a train in North Carolina screamed at the judge on Tuesday as he was ruled not fit to stand trial for a second time.
Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, ranted about having “material in his body” during the brief hearing at the federal courthouse in Charlotte, Queen City News reported.
He also shouted about wanting to press charges against the FBI, and asked the judge whether he had reviewed his evaluation and a letter from his mother, the outlet reported.
Brown is facing federal and state charges in the shocking August 2025 stabbing death of Zarutska, 23, on board a Charlotte Blue Line light rail, in a case that drew global attention.
The suspected killer will now receive medication and treatment for up to four months to try to restore his competency.
If Brown does not become competent, he could be held in custody under federal commitment laws, and a later court hearing could determine whether he can be forcibly medicated.
He was previously evaluated at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago through the Bureau of Prisons, where mental health evaluators spent hours meeting with Brown in person and reviewing audio and video recordings of him before making their recommendation.
Prosecutors, including the Assistant US Attorney, did not present any additional evidence during Tuesday morning’s 15-minute hearing.

suspected.....well yeah and the video is kind of definitive
Everyone knows he did it. Just hang the crazy bastard, call it a day.
Oh, yes, by all means give him yet ANOTHER HEARING to determine if he can be forced to take his meds. Be sure to supply lots of expensive government attorneys to argue for his rights. Gotta have your rights, you know.
If he’s not fit for trial, he’s not fit to live. Simple as that. There’s gotta be a limit somewhere.
Pin it on the governor who’s running for the senate.
It’s why we need insane asylums for the criminally insane. The conditions should be minimal.
I believe that a lot of these guys are crazy but why isn’t anyone looking into how in their overall crazy, who or what is planting the seed in them that when they go psycho, that they kill the white woman, and why are so many young blond white women victims.
This crazy isn’t completely a crazy guy killing a random someone, there is a pattern that comes from something, perhaps the cultural/media/school noise the crazy absorbs from the atmosphere of the larger society?
Maybe the judge can give him a ride home? 🤔
He’s fit
Execute him immediately
Aaaaand, the only way they get out is if the review board that release him take criminal responsibility for anything he does.
Is it the same judge who let him out after his last rampage because he was too dangerous for jail?
Sounds to me like the shethouse “judge” isn’t fit to determine if the evil murderer is fit to stand trial. The killer should be turned over to the custody of “judgey” until he’s competent to stand trial in “judgey’s” court.
Take him out back, kneel him down, put two behind his ear and call it a day.
Enough of this BS. This is how vigilantism builds a resurgence.
With cyanide?
FRY HIM!!! ASAP!!!
Just kill him already.
That’s what I think. If he is unfit for trial, then just execute him. ‘Cause he dang sure ain’t fit for nothing else, either. JMO...
If he’s not fit for trial, doesn’t that rather say that he’s not fit to be turned loose as well?
I hate thinking this way ... even the most heinous criminal, caught in the act, deserves a fair trial. This business of “he’s too crazy to stand trial” is bullstuff. Madness might be a consideration in sentencing; it has no bearing on the question of who did the killing.
