Recent U.S. intelligence reports raised alarms about Israel spying on American officials to gain insight into the Trump administration’s approach to the Iran War, according to separate reports from the New York Times and NBC News.
The Times reported Saturday that U.S. intelligence offices discern an elevated threat of Israeli espionage operations targeting Steve Witkoff, the top American negotiator with Iran, Elbridge Colby, the Pentagon’s under secretary of defense for policy, and Michael DiMino, one of Colby’s top deputies.
Colby and DiMino are widely perceived to be part of an America First faction that is skeptical of military intervention in the Middle East, and the latter is in charge of the Defense Department’s policy for the region.
One report authored by the Defense Intelligence Agency was drafted after U.S. defense personnel said they had discovered spyware installed on their phones. A senior official described Israeli intelligence collection efforts targeting the Trump administration as unusually aggressive, calling them “unhinged.”
NBC News reported Friday that the Pentagon had raised the counterintelligence threat level for Israel to “critical,” the highest level. The White House denied the reporting.
The news reports come amid apparent tensions between President Donald Trump and Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Iran War. Axios reported that Trump, in a profanity-laced phone call on Monday, had lashed out at Netanyahu for escalating Israel’s war in Lebanon. Before the call, Iran had threatened to suspend peace negotiations with the U.S. over Israel’s military campaign.

Of course Israel is spying on America.
They would be negligent if they didn’t.
And of course America is spying on Israel.
We would be negligent if we didn’t.
That doesn’t give anyone a free pass. Get caught, and go to prison.

Israel has been a country in the crosshairs for centuries. They have lost thousands of people through terrorist acts and have been stripped and over run on their own land. There are a lot of very vocal anti-Jewish people in the US having a certain amount of influence and/or power. Israel knows through historical evidence that if the conflict with iran and other immediate terror driven countries is not finished and is put on the back burner, more of their land and people will be destroyed or taken.
The US is more than just Trump or his cabinet. Is there a possibility congress will go blue again this year and Trump be made a non-essential? Is there going to be another Trump in the wings for 2028?
I believe the term is “gun shy.” Wouldn’t you be at this point in history, also? They’re scared and are trying to confirm with their own eyes. I would too.
And they’ve been spying on the US since the 1950’s. Not new.

If Israel is spying on America, then the country is an ungrateful beneficiary of our generosity; they are free to move out of our basement and pay their own bills.
IOW, Israel regards the possibility that America might withdraw its support as a threat? Perhaps even an "existential threat"?
In which case, Israel might try to neutralize that threat, by whatever means necessary.
Some might see this as "understandable." I see it as a threat to our sovereignty; to our freedom to choose a more isolationist America First foreign policy, should we so choose.

Interesting that they were spying of the DIA. if they were spying on the CIA they wouldn’t really learn anything of significance.
As it will be the decider, the Israeli cabinet need not care what Trump says and Congress says via the War Powers Resolution that Trump can’t do anything about Iran.
The Israelis do care about defensive missile shipments from the USA.

Any threat from the USA would be insignificant compared to Iran’s enriched uranium.
Mexico and Canada are larger threats to us than Israel.
Mexico is run by the cartels and China.

I notice that whenever someone denies a negative story about Israel, the word "debunked" is used, as though a mere denial is final and absolute proof.
Israel claims it needs a "security buffer" against terrorist attacks. It takes land. Then it builds settlements there.
As which point, it says it needs to expand the "buffer" to protect the settlements.
And so on ...
