Mohsen Rezaei, the senior military adviser to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, set out a series of demands on behalf of Iran to end the war with the United States and Israel in an interview with CNN. Among the main demands he presented are the release of frozen Iranian assets and the thawing of billions of dollars held by the United States.
Rezaei said that the release of the assets would constitute a significant test for Tehran vis-à-vis the Trump administration. "The release of the funds by the Trump administration will be a new horizon for the future of Iran and the United States. If he wants to reach an agreement with Iran, these $24 billion are a test of trust that Iran wants with Trump."

At the risk of sounding idealistic, what of the everyday Iranian people? I’m not hearing anything about securing their freedoms. Are we just ignoring that, and condemning them to further brutality and repression? And why are we pretending to deal with the Islamist hard-liners? If we allow them to stay in power we are just kicking the can down the road until the next corrupt Uniparty president is elected here who will kowtow to everything the Islamists want.
America doesn’t need to buy oil from anyone. Iran’s also alienated KSA, Kuwait and UAE, and there’s also Venezuela now. Who needs the Strait? China? Not that badly.
How about just keeping the blockade plus drop leaflets with recipes for “Roasted IRGC” for when the population is starving.
The irony of us turning to Russia for oil after we jammed up the Strait of Hormuz would not be lost on most.
The Islamists will not live that long. The Iranian people will finish them off, thanks to these going-nowhere negotiations while we have the Ayatoilets’ left ball in a vice. Arms through Kuwait to Khuzestan and Balluchistan.
