Former Biden cabinet member Xavier Becerra is headed for a November showdown after making his way into the top tier of California’s gubernatorial primary, according to the Associated Press.

The ex-Health and Human Services secretary made up significant ground on Republican frontrunner Steve Hilton as late-arriving ballots continued to be counted across the state.

With more than 67% of expected ballots tallied, Hilton — the former Fox News host — fell behind with 26.3% of the vote, while Becerra held a razor-thin lead with 26.7% of the vote, according to AP. As of Friday afternoon, more than 24,000 votes separated the two candidates in a race that has tightened dramatically since Election Day.

“... as late-arriving ballots continued to be counted across the state.”

None of which are for Hilton.

In one of California Governor Newsom’s elections/recall, they announced Newsom as the “winner” at 8:03pm on election night. The California polls close at 8pm.

No one batted an eye.

It’s Kalifornia, Jake.

Can I ask a stupid question?

Who is declaring that Bacerra has advanced to the runoff? When as of now, it’s a razor thin margin between him and Steve Hilton, how can they declare one candidate is in the runoffn and not the other, when they are essentially tied as of now?

Maybe they already declared Hilton in the runoff, but Becerra could still drop behind the third placer?

Notice the lack of skepticism and unwillingness to report the brazen and obvious cheating. This is why they have no fear and don’t care how bad it looks

Here in Washington state, local government claims that late counted votes ALWAYS favor Democrats because young people put off voting until the last eligible day!

Pathological dishonesty...

And, why not?

Only Republicans get prosecuted for voter fraud.

They say the outstanding ballots are from heavily blue areas.

This is not that unusual...smaller (Red) CA counties (the majority of 58 counties) get their ballots counted rapidly leading to apparent (R) early leads, the large Blue counties (L.A., S.F., Napa, Santa Clara, etc.) are slow due to multiple issues including millions of voters per county. Their results come in later resulting in late large lead changes/vote total changes in favor of (D) candidates.

(D)’s leading in the end is not at all unusual, (D)’s outnumber (R)’s 2-1 in CA...even independents outnumber (R)’s. See:

Nice try but the pattern of brazen cheating is undeniable. Yeah a 20,000 vote dump and not a single vote for the Republican, not one. Don’t give try that “not all that unusual crap” here take it back to BlueSky.

Why cheat in the “jungle” primary? No reason to. One (D) will advance to the general (Gov. & L.A. Mayor). The time to cheat would be the November general election. Whoever the (D) is in the general will most likely win anyway w/o cheating...it is just a reality of current voter registration. The “independents” would have to swing 95+% to the (R) candidate. It is just the reality.

As for “20K vote dumps” would need links/screenshots for that one...deep Blue precincts in SF and LA might well go 19,900/100 for the (D). Also you would have to know the ballot counting procedure i.e. one pile of Hilton ballots counted/released and one pile of Becerra ballots counted and released at a different time. Not the way it works in the FResno County Elections Dept. (of which I am very familiar due to being the election results coordinator for a local TV station for years), but they may do strange vote dumps in other (Blue) counties.

Florida counts all statewide ballots before bedtime across two time zones. They do it for a reason.

And California drags around for a couple of months for a reason too.

In total votes Steve Hilton and Pratt are both currently punching WELL above their weight class (voter reg. wise).

As do the majority of CA counties (election counting done in 1-2 days).

https://www.fresnocountyca.gov/Departments/County-ClerkRegistrar-of-Voters/Elections/Election-Results/2026/RESULTS-FOR-JUNE-2-2026-CONSOLIDATED-STATEWIDE-PRIMARY-ELECTION

As for “months” it is technically 13 days for counties to submit the “unofficial” vote totals for each candidate/Prop., and 30 days for them to submit the “official/final/certified” results to Sacramento (38 days total for a final certified election by the Sacramento SOS):

https://dp.electionresults.sos.ca.gov/frequently-asked-questions#faq-reporting

https://dp.electionresults.sos.ca.gov/returns/status

Florida also allows 13 days for FL counties to report totals:
https://floridaelectionwatch.gov/Timeline
But like most of CA counties they get done earlier.

No reason to cheat in this “jungle” primary, but if any cheating is done in the general election it will be the S.F. Bay Area counties or the the L.A. area.

The real problem is “mail out ballots”...way too many mailed out to dead people and people no longer in the state w/o a strict “paper trail” aka “chain of custody”.
