A Sherpa guide was found crawling to base camp on Mount Everest a week after he went missing, and was reunited with his family who had given up hope he would return.

awa Sherpa was last seen around May 29 descending the mountain, but he did not make it to base camp even though his client did. The pair were among the last climbers on the mountain as the climbing season came to an end and the route was dismantled.

GREAT news Wasn’t Hillary named after Sir Edmund? After all she was a great climber and icy.

LOL funny. A socio(path) climber and also a “Clymer” (a**hole, W’s hot-mike term for presstitute of that name).

HC says she was named for Sir Edmund but he climbed Everest in ‘53, she was born in ‘47, yet another lie to create a mythical origin story.

You probably know all that, sharing for the youngsters.

Dawa is 52 and still doing this kind of work!
I am not worthy!
I salute him respectfully, knowing I couldn’t, wouldn’t put myself in such a predicament.

He has probably done this since he was a young man. This past climber season was one of the busiest they have ever had, so the popularity of this activity has not abated at all.

SHOCK::Apparently, there are still areas on the earth’s surface which are not at all reachable by cell phone!! (sarc).

Not reachable by cell phone and apparently personal locator trackers or beacons don’t work either.

Everest summiting is turning into a meme and a joke. 200k "expeditions" where they short line you up the mountain(basically drag you up), with massages, heated tents, mattresses. Its gone from exotic to a dangerous flex for TikTokkers. I followed a young man Ryan Mitchell on YouTube, who chronicles his summit up to Everest. Pretty breathtaking, but you can see the line at the Hillary Step. Maybe more Darwinism is in play here.

I blame this on the Nepal government and its dependence on foreign mountain tourism. Still an incredibly dangerous endeavor even with you having copious oxygen, a medical team, and hot foot all the way up to camp 4.

Nepal should put together a team of riders for the Tour de France and other races. No blood doping necessary!

I wonder how it is that his client returned, but he didn’t. Did the client not say “he was right behind me” and send people to search for him?

The Sherpa’s are the real heroes on Mt Everest. I’m glad the guy was rescued. For a Sherpa to have a problem up there is pretty amazing.

If the client had a problem, I’m guessing the sherpa would have done everything possible to get him down.

Apparently NBC News and the Associated Press reporters didn't think to ask that question whereas you and I would have.

Why didn’t they go back for him? Leaving him for dead is disgusting.

Sir Edmund was not know to the world until 7 years after Hillary was born. I think Hillary’s parents were very cruel to wait until she was 7 before giving her a name.

IIRC, some Sherpas don’t use oxygen for at least some of the climb. Some have carried clients for at least part of the way, I would think on the way down.

5 days. Left for dead.
Crawls back to camp.
He is tough! Something outrageous about this man.
We should dissect him and find it.

From the headline it sounds like it was the oxygen that got rescued.
